THEORY this was recorded last years around the same time as Pretend: (they married 2017) and the producer cancelled the ep because it was trash and disjointed (pat didn't prepare)

Pat gets offended he wasted time out of his busy schedule for this.

Fast forward to October 2024, producer can't meet his deadline, takes this trash of an ep out of the drawer to save the day. Pat remains offended and thus doesn't brag on social media

It just dawned on me, why Rick prefaced the beginning of the interview with a bunch of seemingly irrelevant facts about himself.
- grew up in a cow field
- awkward kid
- bad student
- lost his wife
- "had" a daughter

These are all the things we make fun of him for and he's self conscious about. This was Rick preemptively correcting the record because he knows the Pests will inevitably reach out to the podcast and share all these details anyway. If Rick can get out in front of these embarrassing parts of his life and spin them to sound cool, he thinks he's cutting our legs out from under us. Instead, he just comes off an insecure weirdo.

"I think had a 1.7 or 1.9 GPA because I didn't do any of the homework and was ADHD as hell" is a VERY specific and bizarre thing to share without any context. He was absolutely thinking about the Pests through this entire interview. It's like we wrote his script for him.

Edit: "I had a divorce forced on me against my will, that I did not agree with" is a fucking amazing way to say "My wife left me for another man." It's fascinating how his brain processes the things that happen to him and spits them back out as something else entirely.

Usually you can just call and ask. Surely we could collectively contact every college/university in Wisconsin to find out.

But it's all bullshit. There's no way someone who was doing as well as Rick says he was in college would leave halfway through for the possibility of a $100,000/year job. If you were that good at school you'd stay in, finish your degree, probably get a master's or higher and be certain you'd make more than that once done.

Off the top of my head I remember that 1) it wasn't part of the UW system while Rick was there so it had a different name at the time and 2) they didn't offer bachelor's degrees. Even though it's not actually a community college, it's main purpose is for shitty students to build up credits for two years before they transfer to a real school... like people do at community colleges. #TomlinsonTechnicality
