Empire of the Sun for a sober watch, Heavyweights for a silly one.
DMCA, complaints, and other inquiries:
All the classic Arnold movies. You've gotta show him Predator and Terminator 2. Those movies blew my mind as a kid. Once you've got him saying "girly man" around the house, you can expose him to the real deal, Commando. No Jewish pornography pls Funsters.
I make a real effort to expose my son to all the cultural touchstones. I want his pop culture background to be varied and expansive.
What are some of them movies you saw as an adolescent that stuck with you or shaped your youth?
I saw The Thing with my dad when I was 10 and it influenced the entire rest of my life, for an example.
All in with Commando.Commando
Lol probably both too violent for a 12 year old imo.Robocop
Apocalypto
And an underrated one I just remembered that I liked back then was "Darkman" with Liam Neeson. Really cool premise and not one of these cookie-cutter faggoty superhero movies.
Idk if he is too old for this, but Up (2009) would be good if he hasn't seen it already. No Jewish pornography pls Funsters.

Maybe, although he said his kid like Total Recall so it's the same league. Verhoeven directed the first one too. Apocalypto came out when I was much older so not sure if it's too much for someone that age. It's weird that a lot of people would be more concerned about a kid seeing tits than some guy getting his arms ripped off, but in a strange way it makes sense on some level.Lol probably both too violent for a 12 year old imo.
Of course these things are all a matter of opinion/taste or whatever. My sons aren't that old yet, but I'd definitely have less of a problem with them seeing tits in a movie (not porn, just R rated) than OTT gory violence at 12. It sounds pretty arbitrary, but just a couple of years later - 14 yo - I wouldn't care so much. Obviously it depends on the kid. Total Recall is pretty cartoony, but the scene in Robocop where Murphy gets blown away is pretty graphic, almost pornographic violence. Apocalypto is one of my favorite movies, but again I wouldn't show it to my 12 yo, women and kids being killed, decapitations etc. When he's 14 or 15? Probably. I'm sure it sounds random and retarded but heyMaybe, although he said his kid like Total Recall so it's the same league. Verhoeven directed the first one too.
