Moved the goalposts pretty quick there, didn't ya?
I don't care if you think Metallica sucks because they're one of the most resented bands ever. That's not new. They're not my favourite band. But you're saying they weren't ever worth a shit which is laughable, and you changed your story. And you could actually doubt the proficiency of Lars and Kirk because they're the weakest members in terms of technique and talent, but they're not the (close to the sole) reason why they're popular.
Arguing about musical taste is pointless because it's so abstract, but it's silly to argue that a band has always sucked when in the 80s (prior to the Black Album) they were composing 8+ minute songs, playing them live and becoming huge. Jesus Christ, just talk about how everything post-Black stinks like everybody else, stop trying to be some contrarian that says they always stunk. That's almost literally every metalhead who still walks around in public with long hair (I'm guilty of this), a black black metal t-shirt, skinny jeans and faggy sneakers. We get it: a band that has no mainstream success is better than Metallica, and Metallica never had any redeeming qualities.
inb4 "I'm not saying they're technically bad, but they suck". Okay, well how do they outright suck if they're technically good? Stop trying to justify your tastes.
It is. But I have read reviews from supposed music critics who've dubbed Motorhead, and I'm not kidding, as a "sloppier Metallica" or a "faster but poor man's AC/DC" and it's usually based on that one song and it's not even an accurate portrayal anyway.
Also Metallica's 'Slither' has the same riff, just slowed down.
