The shot itself was inept, but not monumentally so. It did sound like quite a few shots, though, which makes it worse. The really inept part was the total failure of his agenda. If he just hated him and wanted him to die, he failed, and emboldened him. If there was a political agenda, that failed and only served to strengthen his campaign. If it was some far-out Chinese plot, he failed, and gave Trump cause to exact revenge. So in that way, it was a complete botch job. And I find that funny. It was like "The Dead Zone", only he thwarted himself.
