She's confusing software and hardware jesus fucking christ She's referring to the open source software of the mybb/phbb and conflating that with the infrastructure it runs on. You don't self host (did you mean on prem? you fat dummy), software. She's so bad and fat at this she doesn't realize that you start with open source because its free...you don't pay an expensive license fee if you are just starting.

I mean... you can own your own server and colo rack space at data center... which isn't exactly "on prem".... But that makes zero sense to do when this site probably runs on a less than $50/month VPS...

For the record I'm not suggesting she has any clue what she's talking about.

Yeah, that's true. point taken. that's why I mentioned I never purchased or owned hardware as well meaning that was an umbrella of on prem and also colo.

Her statements are such a shit potpourri of lies and misunderstandings I can't make sense of it.

She's not even 101 level and those terms become nebulous when you get to deeper levels of understanding as You get more granular. Is it cloud or on prem.if an Amazon team is using aws to host a server is that cloud or on prem? What if the data center team uses aws for asset management of the servers in the DC?

Cloud servers are still servers in a data center somewhere.

At that point it just becomes Semantics. You're better off distinguishing platform as a service vs PaaS vs SaaS

Is there like a school for retards where they teach these same errors to her, hildo, rick et al. Its :

  • I don't like X (kiwifarms, onaforums ...)
  • All X i don't like are the same, do things the same way, have the same ideologies and motivations
  • Apply some attribute from one to all others in the X group

I've never been kicked off a host, had traffic null (start a family) routed, or any other issues with the hosting provider where I was banned from their platform.

I've never "self hosted" , whatever the fuck she means by that vague term. But if she means purchase or own any hardware/infrastructure. Then no, i've never owned or purchased any infrastructure.
