Why are there so many movies that win Best Picture and then are never talked about again? Nobody gives a shit about Slumdog Millionaire (other than the name). These movies are the darling of critics and then pop culture wipes them from memory. This is coming from somebody who liked The Artist and Slumdog Millionaire.
Why does a best picture movie have to have pop relevance though? Like Parasite is an amazing movie and gooks might be able to quote it but it’s something I want to watch once a decade and be entertained again.

Slumdog was great, unique and wasn’t just nigger fag pandering. The characters were in India but it wasn’t a movie about the trials and tribulations of being an Indian against racist colonizers.

Even if our kids aren’t quoting them like shitty Marvel movies I still think they’ll stand the test of time like horse shit from the 40s that most people can’t sit through but every once in a while you see something great.

Hollywood really gave this guy some dog shit projects. Until he was completely washed up, accepted that he wasn’t Matt Damon or Brad Pitt and started just making great movies.
The first 2 movies I saw him in here Daredevil and Swat, both after Phone Booth and both dog shit. He was really popular then and I didn't know why. I put him on the pay no mind list until he was in the batman movie. Didn't recognize him, thought it was great. Found out it was him and was surprised. I watched Phone Booth one night and loved it. Started to watch his other movies. And I agree, his movies started to get better

I just started to eat some edibles so this post probably sucks ass

I disagree with Parasite being an amazing movie. As somebody who has seen plenty Korean movies, its premise is retarded. I do not like that movie.

Jokes aside, and I have no problem spoiling a 20 year old movie so if you do, fuck off, but the question of WHY is never really answered in anything resembling a satisfying way, Other than that, Phone Booth is one of the best fucking thrillers in the world, beat by beat, there is never a SECOND of that movie you go "this is a good moment to light a ciggie" or check the time or whatever. It's a near perfect movie ruined by the absence of motivation.
But since you bring it up I gotta bring up a movie people only hate, instead of the plot hole, because of, only the lead actor, and unfairly, because he is FANTASTIC in it, even if its the only thing he's ever done fantastically outside of that 70s show.

don't know if it still holds up but I have forgotten about it more than once, I do remember checking it out, revisiting it in my early to mid 20s and going "oh, this holds up"

What was the point of making that into a movie? It was based on a true story. Clooney played a guy who was so stupid he got him and his whole crew killed. They weren't heroes, they were dumbasses.
A bunch of Hollywood faggots wanted to get dressed up as and pretend to be salt of the earth working class slobs for a few months. There's quite a few movies that have the same genesis.
