There isn't a justification. Look, if you're laboring under the delusion that I agree with Delany on everything, or always defend him, you're wasting your time. I have several axes to grind with the man. I've called on him to retract his NAMBLA shit (not that he will or knows/cares who I am). But he is a key pioneer in sci-fi (Hogg and Nest of Spiders excepted). All I'm saying is that, without a victim of his, his Grandmaster status should be left alone. And I also insist that he, as the lone living, non-incarcerated example of anything pederast-related, is not enough to condemn all of SFWA, and the sci-fi community with it.

Hildy views all these questions around unethical activities purely through a lens on the direct effect (or lack of) they have on a victim. It's all about whether a person's pursuits (whether they be anything from trolling or pedophilia) create a knowing victim or not. Morals have nothing to do with it. Eric has not defended child rape; most people here are misinterpreting him on this. He's merely saying that "If a crime is victimless, then what is the cause for judgement? There is simply no victim, nobody was harmed so therefore it's perfectly ok." Any action that creates a knowing victim is automatically worse than a crime that doesn't.

It's as simple as that. This is why he keeps asking for us to name a direct rape victim of Delaney's. In Hildy's eyes, that's the only unethical thing that Delaney could have done. No one here has seriously claimed that all the members of the SFWA are pedos.
