Anthony left early? When was that. I do recall however, Opie bailing on the show numerous times.
It's called willful ignorance. He just ignores all the stuff he doesn't like because he has fond memories of eating a hotdog with Anthony that one party 15 years ago.
Bro what? Everybody on this forum can't fucking wait to call me liar. About what? No idea, as I have no motivation to lie about anything. So when somebody says "IF true", I'm going to throw it back at you. You know what's actually bizarre? The fact that this forum exists and that people wake up in the 6AM hour to talk about me for some reason. How shitty are your lives that you're STILL clinging to O&A scraps for happiness. I stopped working there in 2012. It's 2025. I've spent more time NOT working there than working there now and you still have shit to talk. Kind of amazing, in a terrifying way.
Sorry bud, I don't have decades of Opie quotes and Tweets just chilling in the forefront of my mind. It's quite a feat to literally remember every throwaway ass thing people say or do. Is it easy? Do you have to study? Is it just legit autism?
What else is new. You guys do it too.
Early XM there was Ben/Steve/Erik. Steve was doing prod all day in the back. Not prod as in producing the show, prod as in sweepers and promos. Basic imaging. So he was non-existent. Erik was only Opie's monkey boy. Erik did not provide prep, content, news, anything. Just serve Opie hand and foot. So realistically, Than, Derek, Travis and I were desperately needed. Derek took on the live air board which would throw XM to DC commercials. Opie ran the in-studio mix. Anthony never ran any board. He had his instant replay sound machine, and that was it. The only time Erock ran a board was at CBS where he threw to commercial. He fucked that up though and I took over at CBS until the final show.
I've run though this numerous times. Those guys didn't do shit. Opie would read USA today and take a shit. Anthony showed up at 5:45. All of them couldn't get out of there fast enough. No prep meetings. No guidance. No creative meetings. They showed up, talked on the air and left. That's all they did that I witnessed.
Well, even with girlfriends on his lap, the man could fire out a witty comment and have the place rolling. Or do an impression. Or just you know...be generally funny. Opie didn't stay late for meeting either. Opie didn't even stay late for Kirk Hammett. This Opie larp is so fucking old and dumb. How old is the "we pretend to like Opie" bit now, 10? 12?
It was frustrating to have the least funny, least interesting, most annoying host fail to contribute time and time again, only to act like King Shit on and off the air. The ego of this man was legendary, and he deserved every last bit of shit talk he got. The guy was very lucky to be there. Like others have said, he was good and steering the ship. But that's it.
I'm thinking they're gonna find out real soon. I don't see The Sam Show justifying multiple large paychecks. Don't forget, Travis has been there for 20 years now. He's easily maxed out on salary years ago, but he's making as much as he ever will there. The show simply just doesn't generate the cash needed to operate. There's no way on Earth.
To be fair, everyone on staff loved Nopie days. The vibe was so much more comfortable. The whole Greggshells thing is 100% real. That's how it felt working with him. It fucked sucked and he made everyone's life miserable with his asshole ego.
