Furthermore, Ronnie B at multiple points during the show cracked jokes at his own expense and jokes that made Colin Flaherty look like the good guy, and this did nothing to satisfy his boomer ego. Colin barreled through his defensive tough guy shit even when Ronnie was trying to include Colin in the fun.

Both of them were afraid to lose that 6-7 figure payday for doing a bullshit job. I’d guess both were hoping the other would get fired so they could keep their paycheck and unload the partnership. Jimmy and Opie got a nice bump in pay after nana went away. Neither offered to use their extra cash to help nana get set up.

Opie didn't want the show to end because he was a businessman first and foremost who recognized the power of the O&A brand even still residually holds today. Aintfunny and Norton on the other hand conspired to make Opie quit so they would keep their gig and not have to have the captain of the ship asking them why they haven't done any of their duties. They wanted to be co-captains of a cruise ship where they walk around the boat drunk and not have to guide it through the waters. They ALL took for granted the contributions of Opie that they were once able to articulate, before the fall.

The O&A partnership was like a married couple who survived a lot of bullshit together, without turning on one another... But then they had a miscarriage (Losing FreeFM/WXRK) and they never recovered. After that, the resentment between them enveloped the partnership. It was just around this time that they had their first on-air fight (after over a decade together) the original Blueberry Incident. This was the first TRUE blow to the show's atmosphere. It was never the same again.

It didn't help that Norton was covertly putting the screws to Opie. It didn't help that their pal of over a decade Patrice died randomly, making it one less thing on earth they had in common. It didn't help that the satellite companies merged and they lost all their influential execs in the move over. It didn't help that the new company downsized the show's role in every way, and had no clue what Aintfunny was capable of years before. It truly wasn't their fault going by the shows they had under their umbrella to think that Aintfunny was useless and maybe that Opie was a low energy host. It didn't help that Norton and Aintfunny were trashing Opie behind his back, which led to Opie's paranoia (justified) which led to a dip in his performance, as well as an obsolete role with the show because there was nothing to promote or pump up in between breaks. It was a talk show in a closet.

They went from breathing down Howard's neck and satirizing the format he created... live shows at bars and major venues... Fuck sake, they sold out MSG for Dice... A few mere years later they were sitting in a closet talking about cuck porn with a failed comic who sucked dick all his life. Yeah, you'd lose your passion too.
