the entire idea of these cons is shitty, they're paying an entrance fee (and hotel if you're not local) for the privilege of accessing stalls for a few Etsy shops (that also paid for the space) and listen to zero-credentials nobodies who turned some twitter platitude into a pretend TedTalk because they're boomers who can't do a youtube video essay

at least the large ones like GenCon have big brands behind them, do events, new releases, etc. This tiny ones have no reason to exist in 2023 but to fulfill the LARP of Tomlinsons.

This guy lives in Ypsilanti, I go there sometimes because I will attend EMU football and Basketball, bot almost empty and clearly not the event of Big Blue in either sport, but i enjoy the cheap tickets and the kids get to see D1 sports front row. The catch is, that he must question Pat on his arrest record, on video. I'm a kind man with a few properties that likely will not see 10 days of rentals in that time.

Its crazy how much they over charge their regular attendees to try cover their costs. Forcing them to buy weekend passes since there is no day passes. ( at least they were bitching about that leading up to this weekend) Last year one convention was trying to get attendees to buy an extra room just to meet their quota.

The lack of any social media postings from the convention is really weird, I thought it was because Pats toilet is blocked by the convention, SFWA, and pretty much ever con speaker I wasn’t seeing many posts.
