I won’t be listening to that Garofalo episode but I think it’s really annoying how the guys who created “the most offensive podcast on Earth” completely slobber over anyone slightly more famous than them. It’s pathetic. At this point they’re begging to be popular and it’s never going to happen for many reasons. I still like Luis for the most part though and it’s sad to see him struggle with making a good show when he used to be pretty funny.

Maybe it's just me, but I feel like a lot of vodcasts and podcasts are dying.

Doug DeMuro is set for life, financially: he got a bunch of money when he created a clone of "bringatrailer." Demuro got his start working for Auto Trader, and he basically figured out that he could use his own vodcast to drive sales to his own online car retailer.

Since he has plenty of money, he's been fairly vocal about the slow demise of a lot of these car vodcasts. And if the car vodcasts are dying, it stands to reason that other vodcasts and podcasts are too.

As someone who's been listening to podcasts and talk radio for 30+ years, the thing I've noticed, especially in the last 1-2 years, and that nearly everything has become insanely "click-baity" because the vodcasters are trying to "game" the YouTube algorithm.

"Critical Drinker" is a great example of this. He used to put out about one video a week, and it was really thoughtful and well produced.

Now? He's putting out close to 2-4 videos a week, and a lot of his videos just rehash existing videos. I've lost count of how many episodes he's done on "Lord of the Rings" at this point. About 75% of his stuff is now low-effort Anthony Cumia tier-stuff. Like, he'll watch an old TV show and just do a play-by-play on it. No script, no real analysis.

YouTube is obviously "tuning the algo" so that creators make longer videos and make more videos. Which is probably great for YouTube (more ads) but it's not so great for the people that actually like watching this stuff.

I've nearly had to give up on Graham Stephan entirely, because nearly 100% of his videos now have a completely misleading title. He'll post a video that says "THE HOUSING MARKET IS GOING TO CRASH TOMORROW" and then you click through the video and it's just some mid/boring discussion of basic statistics that you could find in Forbes magazine. When he basically built his channel on providing real-world information that was based on his own investing. Now, he's obviously more keen on getting revenue via YouTube than getting wealthy by buying real estate.

Pretty sure Bobby's getting pushed out of The Bonfire lol. He's "on vacation with the family" for a full week before the show goes on break for a full week the next week. Mike Finoia, Jay's other choice of cohost is filling in all week. This is exactly what happened when Dan left. He'd be gone for full weeks while Jay auditioned new hosts. He'd ultimately be a bad choice for cohost too as he has actually flipped out on Jacob on the show because he perceived Jacob to be disrespecting him and he got legit pissed at Bobby one time for calling him Mike Fiona by mistake and had a little mini meltdown about it. Time Butterly is also on yesterday's show for the full show, so I think he's getting a tryout too. His first appearance on the show when Bobby took over for Dan all the comments were like "Jay made the wrong pick, Tim Butterly should be cohost." If they do get Butterly it might actually make the show good again.

At least with Opie and Anthony, Opie never made it a secret that the Saturday shows were "tryouts" to get a Golden Ticket.

This is a golden oldie, Luis and Bobby fight for almost an hour. Starts at around the 52min mark. Basically Luis was behind the roast battle thing and paid out of his own pocket to send their best battlers to LA. The best battlers happened to be white men, which upset two female comics who made a big deal about it. They then starts telling people that Luis has sent his followers to attack them and that his anger scares them when the only contact they've had with him is over Twitter DMs.
As Luis is telling the story, Bobby starts seriously defending them because he knows them. This culminates with Bobby screaming like a harpy because that's his go-to.

This clip is a great indication of what garbage YKWD is. This might have been an entertaining argument but instead it’s Luis getting interrupted every three words either by Blobby or by the other two dumb fucks throwing in their Best Week Ever level “jokes” and that’s not even counting the bitch who sat there and didn’t even say anything the entire time.

The Bonfire is off all week because that's apparently how long it takes to recuperate from Skankfest and then when they come back, Bobby is gone an additional two weeks filming his "Comedy Camp" show that nothing will come of. On one of the last shows he made some passive aggressive comment about "the Big Jay and Mike Finoia Show" and Jay was just like "Yeah, he'll be in a couple days at least."
