Why do atheists celebrate Christmas? Why do they get married, have funerals in churches etc?

Marriage is inherently different from its original religious framework due to the state making it a contract about rights

So in a hypothetical if I married a dude, yeah that wouldn’t be a legitimate marriage under god. But thats not what marriage is about anymore. The state has to grant me those rights because not doing so is discriminatory.

If the question were about what do YOU recognize as legitimate marriage thats a whole separate opinion. What I am talking about is what the STATE recognizes because that is ALL its about now. I could guarantee for 60% of Americans having equal rights as their spouse is more important than their relations being legitimate in the eyes of god.

So again, thats all i’m saying. I’m not saying gays should be recognized as a holy Christian marriage. I’m simply saying that your conception of what marriage should be is vastly different from what it currently is and what it will ever be in the future, and the reason it’s so different is because of the state and society.

It’s also completely laid out that less and less people will be true to the faith, and that even the elect are deceived and taken and you will be mocked, persecuted, hated and eventually killed if you don’t bend the knee to false prophets.

I genuinely don’t get it. I’m not gonna sperg about it to my family where I am now.

But they seem to worship Santa Claus, a toy commercial created by Coca Cola - and they play Taylor Swift Christmas songs and think traditional ones are “morbid” and “old fashioned” and they just generally glorify commercialism to the full extent.

So many people are like this now, why?

Why would you want to get married, a Christian principle, in the eyes of a God you don’t worship? Or be laid to rest in His Churches?

I’m not against having a good time, drinking and eating and playing - but isn’t that how these types live full time anyway?
