their BEST ERA
So you're saying the 2004 to 2012 era was best?
DMCA, complaints, and other inquiries:
their BEST ERA
Yeah what a coincidence their best clips come from their BEST ERA.
It goes for any artist. Ask someone when they were the “best” in their career and the average person will pick the middle length. The first part of their careers are finding their voices still and a little hack…and the last part of their careers is a little lazy and phoned in. So of course the middle is the safest answer and the “perfect” time. Started in 1994 and ended in 2014.
I think the other thing that stunts this conversation is O&A had more time on satellite than they did terrestrial. They didn’t really start going until 96 and then got fired in 02, only 6 years. In contrast they spent 10 years on satellite.
Also…I would say in terms of a full show early O&A was probably better due to the energy they had. Late O&A was better for the clips here and there which is what we’re talking about.

Speaking on behalf of the satellite niggers, it's the "comedy cellar" era that we're entertained with and care about. The Patrice, Vos, Bobby and Colin interactions. No we're not shock jock radio fans and I've never given a shit about Howard Stern either. We're fans of the peak of stand up comedy and the best comedians had their best performance on Opie and AnthonyThis opinion brought to you by another self admitted Satellite Baby that never heard FM.
WNEW is #1. They were at their most famous, had the most public exposure of their careers on FM in New York, it got them into GTA, it afforded them more and better interaction with normie callers, even the production was free of Danny Ross or Sam Roberts gaffes. The brand was headed in a clear direction. The inside jokes were much funnier. It was a professionally run show, enjoyed by a massive audience.
After that, it’s debatable whether Satellite even beats out their earliest work at WAAF, which was when they were at the top of their game with prank calls and trolling the dumbass boomers of Boston.
If anything, what you’re saying about “finding their voices” was more true of the 2004-2008 XM years, which were flooded with Norton’s most cringe inducing hack FAKE EDGE bullshit, awfully unfunny viral internet clips. The only upside to O&A on satellite was they became even more critical of everything and negative, a side effect of them not liking each other and only bonding through trashing others. Quiet conversations about them not watching movies or tv shows and making fun of the trailer doesn’t even begin to touch some of the antics they would draft and plan together years before when there were actually stakes involved.
At XM, they were coming off a 2 year vacation and were rusty as hell. They were broadcasting from a tiny storage closet to almost nobody, for the bulk of satellite in 2004 and again at the end in 2009.
It was only at FreeFM that they were using Howard’s purple and blue KRock studio with some extra space that things started returning to form. And what a surprise that them getting kicked off FM was what launched the Opie VS. Anthony leave it alone argument that sent the show further into Opie VS. Ant/Norton.
The period you are calling the “best” was when their chemistry was shot. They couldn’t even bother speaking off mic to prepare any ideas. So it was all mumbling about what they watched on TV the night before. Where was all this “Best” content? Did The DMAN miss it at in between their godawful Fake Nice Guy interviews with E-List celebrities when they were being a media destination, and Norton telling yet another sex crazed story that never actually happened?
Just cuz it’s all you know, doesn’t mean it’s all there is. The satellite years are “safe” to you, for whatever reason, probably because you were actually alive. Whats the matter? You get scared off by the music beds you don’t recognize at WNEW? There’s literally no reason to listen to the SiriusXM table scraps anymore.

I don't know why, but I most have gone through this playlist a couple of dozen times throughout the years:
Maybe because it's basically listening to a person's life fall apart one step at a time in the most preventable manner ever.
