My parents also had it on VHS but I really liked it as a kid. I first saw it at the impressionable age of 12 and wanted to learn the piano as a result. My family had one but before I saw Amadeus it was only played by my mother and sister. I took away the wrong message from the film and thought that, with a little bit of practice, I would discover that I possessed natural musical genius like Mozart. Of course I didn't and after my dad pointed out that it was a film and that the real Mozart, though obviously a child prodigy and genius, spent his entire childhood doing little else than practicing playing, sight-reading and studying harmony, melody and counterpoint, I lost interest in the piano quite soon after. Superb film though. That's one of those movies my parents loved and owned on VHS and I saw but didn't even slightly appreciate until I got old enough to do so. I think I've seen it two or three times in its entirety but only once when I was mature enough to recognize how good it is and I think I'd really enjoy it more now. That's on my to do list next week.
That's really it. My sister also played piano well enough to enter competitions and my mom was pretty into the idea of it but ultimately it wasn't something she could pursue. I actually secretly played piano (secretly because the @covidcumia types I played football with would have probably tortured me) until I was old enough to say I wanted to learn guitar and that was it. My wife, as is common for Asians, is a piano maestro and won multiple major competitions before settling into a career that has nothing to do with piano so our two daughters are currently being abused to the point of tears to meet her standards. Mozart is legitimately my wife's hero and during high school she went to visit his former home and grave. "He was probably just an autist who did nothing else" doesn't sit well with her.My parents also had it on VHS but I really liked it as a kid. So true about guys and the guitar. It's OK to play that because it's rock and roll but you're a fag if you play any other instrument. In reality if you can play like this dude you're beating 9s off with a stickThat's really it. Absolutely but imagine if you sat down at the piano at some house party and played like that. Yes, every guy in the place would hate you but there wouldn't be a dry pair of panties in the place either. After that just pick the 3 hottest you want to take home.Show off.
Charlie Day only got puss by sitting down and playing piano at college parties.Absolutely but imagine if you sat down at the piano at some house party and played like that. Impeccable film. One of the legitimately greatest movies ever made. I usually watch it every couple of years at least. You're right about the piano. I started playing guitar at around 13 (sniff), and while I dabbled in other instruments, guitar is where I excelled. But I look at Elton John, Billy Joel, even John Legend - honestly, Tony Banks too - and I marvel at their effortlessness with it. It makes me jealous sometimes.
So yesterday I was off, and my crew and I chilled after rehearsal and came down by watching a really great film - Rear Window.
Jimmy Stewart's Hitchcock output was up and down - Vertigo is excellent, Rope is really good, and The Man Who Knew Too Much sucks compared to the original. Rear Window stands out amongst them because it's virtually a stage play on celluloid: the entire film takes place in one cramped apartment complex, usually inside of Stewart's own apartment. But that claustrophobic feeling works for this; for one thing, mysteries are my favorite kind of film, and while Vertigo is technically a mystery, it's mostly a melodrama/suspense film with psychological beats.
And it's excellent on 4K. Technicolor looks incredible when done right.
Any musician or instrumentalist of any sort worth a shit will tell you the piano is where you gain your songwriting powers.
Rock and roll music started on the fucking piano.
You can call him a screaming queen all you want, but I will not hear a negative word about Little Richard. The man was fucking fire on the piano, regardless if he was a weirdo or not.
At least he wasn't a pedo right? Unless I missed something.
He was fucking amazing considering the era. If you go through all that 50's shit his stuff easily holds up as something still worth listening to beyond the curiosity. You can call him a screaming queen all you want, but I will not hear a negative word about Little Richard. Nope. Can't do it either nor the recent Amy Adams Netflix thing.Either of you watch the remake with Christopher Reeves? I refused to, just wondering if you had seen it...

Amen to that brother.Oh and about this...
Richard spent like 50 years flipping back and forth between being gay and being a gay-hater.
He would travel the country speaking to high school kids about how gays could be cured by God.
And you know what? He died a straight god-fearing man decrying trannies and men who wear dresses... I think that gives credence to his belief that faggotry can be cured.
