Watched 10 Cloverfield Lane again recently.
It's such a great movie but fuck does that ending not ruin it quite a bit.

It's not necessarily that there's aliens. That's actually a good twist given everything that came before it. It's just the way it's executed is so retarded. The whole movie up to that point is grounded in realism and then suddenly the female character turns into Ripley and is molotov cocktail'ing aliens. It just doesn't work well.
It's such a great movie but fuck does that ending not ruin it quite a bit.

Just watched it and I highly recommend watching it with a good audio system since the sound design plays a major role. Gave me more anxiety than Uncut Gems. Gut wrenching.

Some brotherman mentioned One Hour Photo recently and i found it in Tubi last night.
I really enjoyed it. Robin Williams really makes you empathize with his character while also feeling repulsed by what he's doing.

The American Funny Games remake with Tim Roth and Naomi Watts. I'd watched it when it first came out and I was a teenager and thought it was good. Re-watched it last night on LSD and it's a lot more up its own ass than I remember. The Strangers with Liv Tyler is the same concept executed in a much more fun and engaging way. Funny Games did give a unique insight into the rationale of a killer which I found interesting. But the attempts to build suspense by having Naomi Watts flop around an empty house for 20 god damn minutes and Tim Roth writhing uselessly on a couch fell completely flat. There's some really great moments in it that make it worth watching but it tends to drag in spots.

I saw this last night. I like most of Ti West's work and the horror films that A24 distributes, but this was fucking horrible. He basically just ripped off TCM except instead of cannibals it's horny old people. It's literally a movie about a film crew making a porno who get killed off by this old couple because the old chick can't fuck her husband anymore because of her heart condition so she tries to go after one of the pornstars in the group. The whole first hour of the movie nothing happens and it's just watching them make the porno and it drags forever. Whats worse is that the movie tries to have actual dramatic and emotional moments where it makes you feel sad that this couple is aging and getting old. Not fucking joke it has a montage scene where a character is playing Landslide showing how sad the old woman is. The horror/slasher part doesn't start until the last 45 minutes and it's just your typical predictable shit. Then so for some fucking reason at the end they have a preview for a prequel film with the old woman. Just fucking terrible.

That sucks. I really like House of The Devil and Innkeepers. When I saw this trailer I thought it looked generic and lame, but thought maybe it could have been misleading in order to get butts in seats. Sounds generic and lame though.

The annoying thing about it is it's one of those movies that thinks it's being original because of how meta it is which it seems like every fucking horror movie has to do these days. The kills in it besides the first one aren't even that great and people were hyping it up as being this super gory film that pushes the R rating. The worst it gets is you see a dead dude chained up with his dick hanging out.

I think Ti West made only one good movie, The House of the Devil, everything I have seen of his after has been awful so he either got lucky once or got lost along the way.

I watched this for the first time this year and it's easily in my top 3 Coen movies now. It's like a live action Looney Tunes cartoon. The police chase scene has me fawkin howling.
