I did enjoy Prometheus and Alien: Covenant but neither did go deep into the lore of the engineers which was a missed opportunity in my opinion. All I care about are the engineer’s.
Ridley is also on record saying that he doesn't even like the Xenomorph which is hilarious. Dan O'Bannon and H.R. Giger didn't really leave the alien to anyone apparently. So Fox and Disney got it with Ridley getting to produce the newest films. At what point did Alien become Ridley Scotts' thing? The first 3 moves in the franchise had 3 different directors (well 4) and then Alien Vs Predator movies, which we don't have to talk about.
When did Ridley get to decide what's cannon and what's not? Like he's Lucas and this is his Star Wars.
You're not alone. If they had stopped at 1, it would still be a classic. It's fucking timeless.Maybe I'm just a contrarian fag but I really only like the first movie. Aliens always comes off as super corny when I watch it now.
nah i completely agree, i like that alien is just mundane trucker shit in space disrupted by an alien.Maybe I'm just a contrarian fag but I really only like the first movie. Aliens always comes off as super corny when I watch it now.
Least we forget that it’s pretty much two movies Scotch-taped together. Didn’t they change a big chunk of the production staff halfway through? What a mess. And lest we forget Alien 3, where Ripley shaves her head and hangs out with a bunch of prisoners. I forget what else happens besides the bad CGI xenomorph.
It's really more like three or four movies just smashed together and filmed all over the place.Least we forget that it’s pretty much two movies Scotch-taped together. Didn’t they change a big chunk of the production staff halfway through? What a mess.
Speaking of filming two different movies. In the 'Assembly Cut' version of Alien 3 it's not even a dog that it infects but an Ox. So they filmed a completely different alien design when the other director got involved. So if you watch the other version of the movie they basically redid every scene involving the alien including the face-hugger infecting an ox in the slaughterhouse instead of a dog in the air vent.I did like the dog alien, as it expanded the lore a bit, where the Xenonorph lifecycle was really “infect host, gestate, create some hybrid monster”. I.e., it’s not so much a species as it is a strain of something. A neat idea got overshadowed by a shitty movie.
She paid $1million or something ridiculous to shave her head. And lest we forget Alien 3, where Ripley shaves her head and hangs out with a bunch of prisoners. I forget what else happens besides the bad CGI xenomorph.
