For most of 1996 into 1997, that gay movie was all he talked about, day after day after day.
I just remembered something else. The marketing budget for the movie was massive, they had advertisements on basically every top rated cable or network show, and a fucking Super Bowl ad. It was ridiculous. But one thing is that there was some separate budget for swag and apparel that was branded with Private Parts that was either supposed to be sold to fans or given away as promotion but for some reason was withheld. So somewhere in a dump, or donated to Somalia, there were a few million dollars of Private Parts t-shirts, hats, and other swag merchandise and crap that never saw the light of day.
Like those "19-0 Patriots" perfect season shirts that are in a landfill in New England or shipped to Timbuktu. Somewhere in a third world country entire families are wearing Private Parts hats and jeans and using umbrellas with Howard's face on them.
In my basement I have a signed Private Parts poster from basically everyone on Stern. Not a single person has ever commented on it.
Then of course there was the time he bought the stripper a bmw.....
Stern bought a stripper and prostitute, from the nightclub Scores, a Mercedes Benz convertible, and she bragged about it to the other girls in the club who then leaked it to the press. Stern just ignored it and a week later 9/11 happened so no one mentioned it again. That was never really brought up again and if callers ever mentioned it, it was dumped out. That was one of those things that comics wouldn't roast Howard about either.
Scores was an insane nightclub. It was allegedly both an Italian Mafia front and some type of Mossad gathering place as well. The guys from organized crime groups would plan stuff out at the club and eat dinner and bang the prostitutes. Like the Bada Bing in Sopranos. One of the major crime heists they planned at Scores was the liquidating of National Heritage Life Insurance by siphoning all of the money from the company before the government noticed. In total they stole $500million of insurance money and just fled America.
The biggest thief was......SURPRISE......a jewish man named Sholam Weiss. He fled to Israel with hundreds of millions in cash. The US government tried him in absentia and sentence him to 800 years in jail but he was in Israel by then. But like a retard he took vacations in Europe and was eventually arrested when his passport was flagged. He gets sent back to the US, to serve life in prison, and is instantly pardoned by President Trump. MIGA.
There's the weird time line discrepancies of when he started seeing Beth. John Hopper wrote in his book sometime after private parts was released he met Beth on the set of Letterman. She was one of the chorus girls who do bullshit when Dave did bits. Hopper said he mention sterns name and she slyly told him she was sterns secret girlfriend. This was before any mention of separation much less divorce.
There are a few things with Beth that people suspect. One is that she was an escort or a model that could be rented out for dates like arm candy. Maybe not like a hooker, but a girl who would appear at a dinner function for a guy who needed a date, and she would be available for a few hours and sex was off the table (unless she did it on the side). And that is actually how Stern met her. Where they were at a party that she was working and a guy passed her to Howard. Howard claimed she was a model and 'regular' on Letterman but her known work doesn't really seem to support her living in or around NYC without some other source of income (maybe her criminal dentist father pitched in or something).
Another is that Beth was dating Howard when Howard was still with his wife or dating other women during the separation. But if you look closely at the women Howard dated....all of them are Don Buchwald clients. Meaning he was dating Beth for real, but publicly 'dating' the women from Son of the Beach or some stupid Buchwald production just to boost their fame a little. I would bet that he was paying Beth like he paid the stripper from Scores just for some companionship or a social agreement. But then ended up keeping her full time because he needed that image of someone in a steady relationship and decided to go public with her.
Another reason he likely hid him knowing Beth during his marriage, is that his daughters already loathed him. So knowing that his next wife blew up his marriage to their mother might damage their relationship permanently. His oldest daughters allegedly despised Beth for a while and probably still do.
