Excellent thread. What a pathetic pussy Stern is. Opie really did have some balls and took major risks going after that wigged, kike-privileged cocksucker.
DMCA, complaints, and other inquiries:
Deborah is the oldest she a big fat lezzie rabbi cantor who sings songs on youtube now"Deborah takes the drug "Ecstasy" at the concert, and gets rushed to St. Vincent's Hospital. Where Howard and Alison have a screaming match at bedside."
This is the commotion one of Keith the Cops buddies saw and called in with the tip to the show
Opie is an autist, but he had a legitimate gripe with trying to rally against that bore yenta Howard Stern. Fuck Stern. It has come to my attention VICE is planning on doing another soft-shoe baby's first documentary about something I have too much autistic knowledge about. This is a preemptive thread attacking a show that I have not watched. But I'm willing to bet they will not include 100% of the full context.
Here is the actual timeline, not as much info on the satellite side but this should be almost everything on FM: @LingerLonger please fill any gaps.
1981 - Opie breaks into radio in Rochester as an 18 year old intern for Brother Wease, who is Opie's mentor. Stern was still doing Hop-Along Howie in obscurity up until a year or 2 into Opie's career.
Mid 1980's - Stern becomes highly successful. A day laborer named Anthony is a huge fanboy for Stern, who mocks Brother Wease's young daughter and Wease for getting cancer.
1994 - Opie gets a night show on Long Island, meets song parody man Anthony (huge Stern fanboy who imitates his voice for a few years)
- Anthony enters a contest on Stern, gets thrown out because he mentioned Opie's name. Stern bashes Opie after bababooey calls Opie a "copycat."
[Note: Neither Opie nor Anthony have uttered a negative word about Stern. We are now at Stern taking 2 huge shots at Opie with 0 response.]
1995 - Opie negotiates Anthony into a higher tax bracket and a new career in Boston. When Stern is in the news, O&A do mention him and joke as they would any celebrity, but they never trash him personally, like he does to them.
1998 - Opie brings Anthony with him to New York City. It takes 1 year for them to flush out music listeners, earn legit radio industry awards, and build an audience of creeps and retards, like Stern. O&A mentions they are being called copycats, thieves, fanboys, etc. by someone who works for the same company as them, and poke fun at Stern for "inventing everything."
1999 - Infinity (parent company of K-Rock & WNEW) suggests Howard mornings and O&A afternoons airing on the same stations all over U.S.A. in syndication, which Stern refuses and begins to openly trash O&A as thieves, copies, and clones on the air. However, when O&A attack back, Howard stops talking about them completely.
January 2000: - O&A openly say that they don't want to move to mornings because they are too pussy to compete against Howard Stern just yet.
March 2000 - After being told by Infinity to play nice with Howard, O&A tried to attend the press conference for Son of the Beach. Stern threw a bitch fit from his limo when someone told him O&A were in the crowd to support him. Stern refused to go into his own press conference, delaying it by half hour, until O&A got kicked out.
- Stern runs to WNEW boss Ken Stevens and "warns" him about O&A and tried to get them to never talk about Stern. Opie made this claim for years, and Howard confirmed it years later to Sean Hannity. Howard actually admitted he did this. Howard remained free to bash O&A on his show, which he did, but he rarely mentioned them by name, to keep them in obscurity.
May 2000 - Howard keeps trashing O&A without mentioning them by name, while O&A have been very vocal about the fact that they can't mention Howard's name without being threatened by their bosses.
December 2000 - Stern's dopey daughter overdoses on X at rival station Z-100 Christmas concert called Jingle-Ball. This was the climax of the feud, in my eyes, as it was the perfect irony... Howard attacked Wease's daughter in the 80's, 20 years later Wease's protege got his shots in and mocked Howard's daughter, which made Howard furious.
January 2001 - O&A come back from Christmas vacation told if they fuck up again or mention Howard they are fired on the spot. O&A go 2 years doing a show that improves in quality despite the addition of Jim Norton. Opie continues to carry the grudge against Howard for how he tries to neuter their show, and his past with Wease. The HYPOCRISY being the worst part. Anthony usually lays back like a total pussy scared for his job not mentioning Howard.
April 2002 - Stern stole and copied vernacular like "balloon knot" and a few song parodies he aired with O&A's voices laughing over the song DIRECTLY from their show, and they couldn't mention it. O&A tried to talk about him by calling him "Radio Edit." Stern steals another song parody and the idea of satirizing the new show "MTV Cribs" that O&A were already doing with their own retards. O&A do call this out on the air despite the gag order.
August 2002 - WNEW fires O&A, which Howard celebrates and convinces Infinity to keep them under contract so they cannot compete directly against him in mornings for another company. Howard's strategy was to keep O&A off radio so their names cooled off. This is known to be a fact because Infinity proposed releasing O&A from their contract in 2002 if they signed a waiver agreeing to never, in perpetuity, ever mention Stern or any Infinity employee by name anywhere. They of course did not sign this dopey agreement and just sat out the contract.
August 2004 - O&A sign with XM and their first live show back happens on October 2004... 2 days after their first show, Howard announces that he has signed with SIRIUS Satellite.
- Anthony finally starts ranting about Howard now that there will be no repercussions to his career.
January 2006 - O&A mock Stern's other daughter for doing some horrible play, airing the audio
Another funny aspect of this… Howard got into a big argument with his wife on the air about a previous Jingle Ball concert, and how his daughter was demanding the tickets and his wife felt entitled to them, calling people up and asking for freebies from rival stations. He went on air complaining about how it made him look bad. Definitely had to be one of the final nails in the coffin of his marriage.Deborah is the oldest she a big fat lezzie rabbi cantor who sings songs on youtube now
It was rumored that Howard got caught cheating during Private Parts multiple times by different people. Like a random security guard would see him going into his trailer with a girl playing a stripper. Or he would have his private security bring one of the actresses to his hotel room late nights when shooting would run into the night. And that same actresses would then wave to Howard's private security during the day because she was familiar with their faces and was meeting them nightly to be taken to Howard's hotel room. Grillo told people he thought Howard was sleeping with at least one of the actresses because of that.Another funny aspect of this… Howard got into a big argument with his wife on the air about a previous Jingle Ball concert, and how his daughter was demanding the tickets and his wife felt entitled to them, calling people up and asking for freebies from rival stations. Unless there were two similar instance you’re kind of wrong here. Alison found a list on his assistant’s desk in their house and the “Howard’s needs for the set list” included toiletries and condoms. He berated Ralph on air and Ralph claimed it was a joke. Howard said he didn’t use any of the brands on the list. Ralph claimed he thought Howard wanted a list of good products to use and added condoms as a goof. Howard said his assistant told him that his wife saw the list so he gave some good guy speech about how he immediately went to her when he got home and explained himself. Alison called in and said it looked like a list of Ralph’s products. It was an odd conversation and Ralph apologized profusely. I didn’t know the movie did so poorly. That’s really funny actually. “We’re the Beatles of radio!”Also Ralph was bringing Howard condoms for his private trailer that was parked on set. And Howard's wife went through his belongings one day, and found the condoms. And angrily confronted Howard on it. And the only excuse he was able to come up with on the spot was "Ralph did it as a joke". Leading to Howard marching Ralph on the air, making Ralph tell some lie about how he "pranked" Howard by putting condoms in his trailer as a private joke. Ralph profusely apologized on air but by then it was too late.
Private Parts definitely exposed that Howard wasn't nearly as popular as he reported. And that he would never have mainstream appeal either. It jaded a lot of his fans as well, as if you saw the film in the theater it was almost always to an empty room. Stern was selling his movie as being this amazing listener experience where Stern fans would congregate and see the Godfather of radio movies. But you were lucky if there were more than two people in the theater with you the minute the opening weekend was over.I didn’t know the movie did so poorly. I like Beer League and I was always shocked that it did so poorly when he got to plug it on Stern. I always found it funny that Artie flat out told Howard he’d most likely leave if he got a successful sitcom.Private Parts definitely exposed that Howard wasn't nearly as popular as he reported. Howard was once asked on air how much the film made and he said "$80million" which is a lie of double the actual amount. Also the radio shows leading up to Private Parts were literally about the film nonstop. Endless talk about the movie to promote it. Fans were sick of it. The week after Private Parts aired Stern took a vacation and was off air. The next week he got on the air and didn't mention Private Parts more than in passing as he was obviously embarrassed that the movie wasn't some massive hit like he predicted. But years later Artie Lange would incinerate all traces of Private Part's bombing with his monumental and spectacular failure of Beer League.
No joke. More people would see someone like Burr, Rogan, or Louis CK on any random given weekend in a large comedy club, based on O&A plugs, than Artie Lange got for Beer League nationally despite plugging on Stern day and night. I truly believe that Howard never had the audience of O&A even at his peak. His fans when he had to count on them outside of the show were nonexistent. Meanwhile O&A mention something once on their show and it becomes the top internet search that day.I like Beer League and I was always shocked that it did so poorly when he got to plug it on Stern. Didn’t Howard have better ratings than OnA though? OnA having a more loyal and rabid fan base makes sense to me though. Joe Buck live was going to die on the vine anyways. It was a sports show so why were there two actors and Artie on the panel? Nick getting fired from his own DirecTV show was pretty funny even though I like Nick.No joke. I still can't believe that Beer League caused so much chaos. Artie's life spiraled out of control because of it. And it impacted the Stern show permanently. Basically lead to Joe Buck Live getting destroyed. Artie leaving Stern eventually because of the heroin habit he developed. Artie burning his bridges with all of his friends especially Nick Dipaolo. Artie having a turn with Anthony. Crazy.
It was so good, I still randomly yell "my vagiiiiina!" At timesThe best part is, they went after 2 different daughters. The two older girls were the ones they went after. His third daughter was still a toddler at this time, I believe. At least she was in the movie in 1997. So only 3 years after that.
Stuttering John is a giant POS but he's absolutely right in calling Howard a cheapskate. How do you only give popcorn tins to your staff?Another funny aspect of this… Howard got into a big argument with his wife on the air about a previous Jingle Ball concert, and how his daughter was demanding the tickets and his wife felt entitled to them, calling people up and asking for freebies from rival stations. What a pathetic fucking “man”. It’s like a guy who works at Walmart getting mad his wife went to Home Depot. I’m not a big Howie listener / fan but from what i’ve heard over the years he came off as a bigger closet fag than Anthony. Supposedly he would lock himself in his basement going into AOL chatrooms pretending to be a woman. He once threw a tantrum and kicked his wife because she was rolling around in bed too much, and now he doesn’t even sleep in the same room as his current wife.Howard's Wife Goes To Competitor's Concert. 12/18/98. 8:00am
Howard was a little pissed off about something his wife had done. Alison went to this ''Jingle Ball'' concert that New York's Z-100 held. Alison is a fan of the station and wanted to go to the ball with her kids. She got tickets through one of the guys that works at Howard's station but
Howard was upset that she's supporting the competition.
This is 100% accurate. For most of 1996 into 1997, that gay movie was all he talked about, day after day after day. And he never ran long during that time either, which he almost always used to do. People would be lining up to see it over and over again, the crowds would be acting out scenes in the aisles, no one would believe how hilarious it was and so forth. Every regular Stern listener was just itching for it to be over with already, as it was just insufferable.Private Parts definitely exposed that Howard wasn't nearly as popular as he reported. And that he would never have mainstream appeal either. It jaded a lot of his fans as well, as if you saw the film in the theater it was almost always to an empty room. Then of course there was the time he bought the stripper a bmw.....It was rumored that Howard got caught cheating during Private Parts multiple times by different people. Like a random security guard would see him going into his trailer with a girl playing a stripper. Or he would have his private security bring one of the actresses to his hotel room late nights when shooting would run into the night. Grillo told people he thought Howard was sleeping with at least one of the actresses because of that.
Howard was rumored to have slept with Teresa Lynn, the naked women who has an orgasm while riding on her speakers. Big Pussy infamously mentioned it on Stern during a Sopranos related interview. Howard kept pestering Big Pussy if he sleeps with actresses on set, and so the actor just blurted out "Oh yeah Teresa Lynn says you banged her during Private Parts" to the glee of Jackie and Robin. This segment never made it into replays. But most hardcore Stern fans remember how hilarious this exchange was.
And Mary McCormack, the actresses who played his wife, was another rumored affair. As they were around each other for months filming various scenes. And her acting was awful yet they kept her in the movie rather than recast someone who could actually play the part. Also Ralph was bringing Howard condoms for his private trailer that was parked on set.
The biggest rumor that went around years after Private Parts aired was that Howard's wife tried to file for divorce during the filming of the movie. But the lawyers of the movie, not Howard's lawyers, but the lawyers for the producers somehow intercepted the filing and shut it down. Ivan Reitman reportedly made Howard talk to him in person and told him if his wife divorced him before the movie came out he would be on the hook for the losses of the film. So Howard's wife kept silent until the movie was out and tried to patch things up for the kids.
Best part? Private Parts bombed anyways. It was promoted like crazy. Stern was on every single talk show day and night. The radio stations in basically all markets played advertisements for it nonstop. His morning radio show became Private Parts Radio. It was an Ivan Reitman film, the guy who made Ghostbusters, Kindergarten Cop, Twins, Junior, and all sorts of big money family crap. So the money was there for production and promotion. The film was made for $30million with probably the same budget for advertising, so $60million total. Meaning it needed to hit at least $120million to break even. Yet even with the massive advertising it made $40million.
To put the budget into perspective. All time classic and massively influential science fiction film Dark City had a budget of $27million and came out the same year. And that movie sold its set to another a film that came out a year later called 'The Matrix'. If Howard had gotten divorced and did a bitter "I hate my wife" divorce tour for the movie. And said that the movie was a love letter to his wife who just left him. It might have gone down as one of the greatest comedies of all time.
