In fairness, wasn't it just Rob Zombie who fucked around with the origin story? Most of the Halloween sequels are so forgettable I can't remember if the others did.

The second one (82?) attempted to add an origin story originally which went nowhere. H3 tried to branch out but that got even worse. But yeah RZ went totally off the rails.

But yeah that’s the one where they (John Carpenter in a drunken haze) decided Laurie was Michael’s sister. That entire series has retconned itself so many times that it’s useless to even try and sort out the mythology.

I enjoy 3. It’d have been better served by just being called “Season of the Witch” without the Halloween 3 part. But its failure led to Halloween 4, which is probably the best sequel in the whole series.

I liked the first one a lot. It was funny at times. The second one was ok, but the ending sequence with the girl power nonsense was distracting. I just wanted a unnecessarily gory, cruel and funny movie. I laughed when the clown just said fuck it in the first one and pulled out a gun.
