My guess what happened was rick got woke 1am on the couch hearing someone outside, his no real understanding on when to using gun for legal self defense came to his squirrel brain, he goes out with gun gets mouthy with whoever then takes a pot shot at them they take off, rick calls cops and cops tell him you can't do that, give us your gun come down town with us
