I get the logistical support piece, but there's a fuckton of things they need to start doing right.

The war's biggest revelation and the biggest hindrance to Russia is the amateurism among its regular forces. How will recruiting new people somehow make that better?
More than recruiting new forces, the mobilization is about keeping the current force (serving conscripts and contract soldiers) from fucking off as soon as they can, which could actually lead to total collapse of the Ukraine front.

They have tried offering more and more money to anyone willing to enlist and are even trying to enlist prisoners, but it is clearly not working. There are people who have previously served in Ukraine, and it's not like the average Russian reservist with no combat experience is completely useless either. But for Russia it has been only downhill from the day the war started, and this won't change that.

Clearly there's something to the idea that these reservists have some experience in the armed forces and are better than people off the street. My point is that anyone Russia calls up is a step down from the already low standard set by the regular forces in the fight right now. It's not even more of the same; it's even worse.
