Tarantino got it backwards though. Clark Kent is the person, Superman is the alter ego. He’s fundamentally a farm boy from Kansas who happens to have super powers. The comic book hero who is really the alter ego is Batman, he’s so consumed with being Batman that he damages and neglects his real identity, Bruce Wayne, in order to be Batman.

Basically, Clark Kent prefers to be Clark Kent. Bruce Wayne prefers to be Batman.
