I wonder if he thinks Niki shares his “mastery of words.”

Awesome writing! Awesome company that’s now nonexistent! Back when Niki actually tweeted, she would pepper her posts with hashtags like #AIexpert and #SEOexpert. She claimed to be “obsessed” with AI and SEO. That rings about as legitimate a claim as “I fucking LOVE science!”

There are so many books containing both quality fiction and humor that I often wish I could just read full-time.
I thought he was talking about science fiction but I did a double take and wow, he really is a fucking idiot. Catch 22 is a book off the top of my head that I can remember as being very humorous. Hunter S. Thompson’s Rum Diaries is another one that comes to mind.

The “fiction books aren’t funny” is really something, not only does it show he doesn’t read but has never read much of anything. I guess Pat isn’t familiar with a writer named Mark Twain who was pretty well known for putting humor in fiction books. I bet Pat has only read maybe 10-15 books in his life.

A few books that made me laugh when reading them, off the top of my head - Catch 22, the Adrian Mole books, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, The Rum Diary (I know these two are partly autobiographical, but Thompson was an unreliable narrator at best,) Lucky Jim, High Fidelity, parts of The Catcher in the Rye, anything by P.G. Wodehouse, Filth, Trainspotting.

I haven't been able to sit down and read a book in years, but Fat is a philistinic retard to say funny fiction is rare.

Niki genuinely thinks Pat is an intelligent, insightful man. I wonder if she takes any anti-psychotics with the antidepressants Pat says he feeds her every day. She could use some.
If it's actually Niki liking his tweets, I'd bet it's only to placate the petulant man-child she lives with.

"Why didn't you like my tweet, Niki?" in the same way Glenn Close speaks to Michael Douglas here @ 8 seconds. It's literal psychopathy.

Or any of Terry Pratchett, Christopher Moore or John Swartzwelder's books. Humor is few and far between in fiction!

Every time I reread this I find new crazy shit to laugh at. Pat said with a straight face that he possesses “a mastery of words.”
I was going to make the same comment. His wording is always awkward and reminds me of someone who has English as a second language trying to create context with words and nuances they don't fully understand yet. What a fucking blowhard he is.

Dharma Bums by Jack Kerouac is laugh out loud funny. Sister Carrie by Theodore Dreiser is another one of my favorite funny fiction books. Every book I’ve ever read by Aldous Huxley is hilarious too.

It's fucking crazy that he even said that, let alone while promoting his first book. Introducing yourself as a lazy hack is so foolish and short-sighted that it could only be Patrick. Imagine if say, David Lynch had promoted Eraserhead by talking about who he stole it from.

His hubris really shines through that interview, and I'm thrilled that he's completely fucked up his career. I wonder if he'll ever get another book deal...

He did that intentionally. It was very important for Pat to make his success seem like a trivial effort that he could simply take or leave. In his mind this reflects his INCREDIBLE GENIUS AND TALENT. He didn’t really care, he just tossed his hat in the ring and the success came to him with no effort - he’s THAT good!
