Near my apartment there’s like a guy in his 80s that repairs guitars, guys been doing it since like the 70s.
Anyway asked what he thinks of guys who operate guitar repair via home, a man who never repaired and thinks he’s legit artist, he laughed.
Also showed him Joe’s guitar wall, and said all of those are cheaply made foreign guitars, and that if that’s the only things he’s worked on he’s gonna have issues dealing with actual hand crafted guitars.
Much of was him laughin at Joe
Joe deserves to be laughed at - he could have been giving guitar lessons out of his home (it’s not like he has a job to go to) for years just to fill up the week but now he’s going to pretend he can fix guitars because he has THE TOOLS which is a pair of scissors and Elmer’s glue.

And it’s not like Joe was busy doing anything else to take the time to learn a craft that’s related to his “love” of playing guitar. You would think he would have had some interest in learning but he’s a lazy bum Cumia.
You can't hog the spotlight or do gay guitar hero poses while you're sanding or varnishing a hunk of wood. It's honest work, where you need to pay attention, thus no good for Joe.

Yeah my guitar teacher was a cool - he was a school music teacher which we know pays shit so he would do guitar lessons on the side and would teach you want you wanted to learn - most other teachers would teach you want they think you should learn. Geez Joe, you know over 1k songs - you could at least teach! But that would take work…
If he did three lessons a week at $50 per, he'd take home an extra $600 a month, which I guarantee is considerably more than he gets paid for waddling around with Bombtrack or sitting on his little stool at the Clam Hut.

Kinda of curious if we let this run its course and natural end. Instead of fucking with it. Last time Joe “worked” he pulled his teeth out and then blamed everyone else for his issues
He got a job that involved him working more than a couple hours a week and it almost killed him. Now he thinks he can repair guitars? Joe will do doing a lot of hiding from customers wondering why their guitar still doesn’t work after he “fixed” it

Plus he has that “studio” with all his nonsense that could be used for a lessons room. Could have even done lessons through zoom and wouldn’t have to leave the house.

That’s what the guy laughed at, the Elmer’s glue.
“What’s this a fucking arts and crafts project?”

He’s completely delusional. He likely has little to no savings otherwise he wouldn’t be working indentured servitude style on a cruise ship and busking at farmers markets for $50 a day. My theory is he’s banking on his younger brother croaking soon and leaving him the inheritance that he’s entitled to for delivering Opie the tape that launched Ant’s career. He may be in for a (lectric) shock when he finds out how little Nana has left and how much is being left to Missy. She ain’t providing elder care for the old queen for free!
That’s what’s so pathetic about this whole situation - he’s the OLDEST and assuming his younger brother will give him a bunch of money. Usually the oldest has the responsibility of looking out for their younger siblings but not Joe.

I remembering hearing an interview with Dane Cook in 2009 / 2010 and he talked about his siblings stealing his money after he gave them money / gave them jobs taking care of his finances which really shows how money can bring out the worst in families. Joe sees Ant as a slot machine that will hit the jackpot when he croaks.

I take my guitars to the local guitar store, restring it - fix stuff. It’s not expensive and I don’t want to do it myself. It’s a good idea if he follows through properly, which he certainly will not. He’ll be embroiled in some petty drama immediately or just be lazy as usual and not try and build it.
I can see angry customers banging on his door over poor work and Joe telling Layla and Carol to get down, be quiet, and act like they aren’t home.

"Now that my Uncle Gitbox is dead, maybe I can make a few bucks by glomming on to his reputation, and pretending I'm a "luthier" too". What an amoral, sleazy thought to even have. The guy's corpse isn't even cold yet, and Joe is trying to turn his life's work into an income stream. Reprehensible, even by Cumia standards.

A Cumia acting like a shameless nigger? You don't say.

It's the last stop for failed amateur musicians, but Joe prefers to redefine "bottoming out" over resorting to any sort of honest work. He could give 2-3 lessons a week and bring home more than any of his garbage gigs will ever pay. However, he'd need to take a shower, look presentable, and be on time, and he simply doesn't have the work ethic to master even those minimal standards.

that and he also fucking blows at playing guitar

Like many amateur guitar hobbyists, Joe is a mimic, who thinks memorizing the notes is the impressive part. He's adept at mimicking the songs of his youth, and playing all the notes, but he misses the point of creating music entirely. He likes to think audiences are dazzled by how he plays "just like" Neil Schon or (lol) The Edge, and fails to grasp how listeners like the music itself, and don't care about how difficult it is to play or how "good" you have to be to mimic it. His entire "music career" is just a big fat lie.

And, he's fat-fingered, and takes lots of cheap shortcuts. There's no Joe Cumia sound, or Joe Cumia tone. It's just a fat asshole copying popular songs through his low-budget rig.
