The English are truly mutts. They're mostly descended from Celtic people, like the micks. Add in some Roman coloinists who intermingled, the Anglo-Saxon migrations, the Vikings, and then the Norman Conquest, and you've got lots of fawkin' people groups on dat island. A lot of English folks have identified with Anglo-Saxon culture, but the genetic evidence of this is pretty mixed (as in, it depends on where you're from - the closer you are to the east, the more Angle, Saxon, or Jute blood you have).
