I think it was a legitimate mindset at one point. Lot of families homeschooled after desegregation or when their neighborhoods had massive demographic changes. But schools were good in those days so it was probably a major downgrade in educational quality to homeschool

Now? Schools are absolutely broken. Even expensive private schools indoctrinate and too often have poor standards.

I’m not religious at all and if I had kids they would 100% be homeschooled or some similar situation.

I think home schooling really started when forced busing began during desegregation. It has persisted and even grown even as the country has become—by any standard, if one is being honest—much less racist for a lot of reasons, but the teacher’s unions and their ideological allies who don’t like the competition don’t want to talk about that. I went to Catholic school and would occasionally hear snide remarks about that—even religion isn’t a good enough reason for some people to choose not to send their kids to public.

I went to public schools and only had issues with black kids being violent. School was too easy and I wish my parents had did what they had to do to send us to better schools, but they thought they were doing the right thing.

Traditional schooling will only fuck up most kids, especially when you consider the average teacher these days. I knew I was in a prison even if no one would acknowledge it. Kids aren’t nearly as stupid as some of the adults making decisions for them.

Also this BS about school being necessary to “socialize” children is complete bunk. If the only opportunity your kids are only around other kids at school, you’re a shitty parent and probably a selfish, ignorant person. You should kill yourself for good measure. Just make sure you leave enough life insurance to give your kids a decent education.

My mom was a teacher (retired). She made a very good observation about why education has gone downhill.

Back when she was in university smart, motivated women were pretty much shoehorned in to either education or nursing. Now smart motivated women go to law school, medical school, whatever..so the quality of people going in to education has plummeted.

Teaching should be a super important, prestigious job. Unfortunately the system is set up to be a safe place for mediocre ideologues to make a half decent living and never be fired. I’d be all for tripling their salaries if they could somehow do a great job of educating kids properly and have accountability. But Rick is more likely to win a Nobel prize in physics than that to happen

I went to HS with a guy who became a teacher. He's obnoxiously liberal and believes he knows everything when literally any retard can teach at the middle school level and below (he's also fat). Even high school teachers in math and science only have to take like one level of math (or physics etc) above what they are teaching. Anyways I had to mute him on FB because he constantly Tomlinson'd into conversations being condescending when I probably worked hard and learned more fir my psych degree
