Pat is a complete hunk of shit, so it's impossible to feel bad for him. But it is slightly sad. Ade
leaving him fucked him up so bad that he can't lead a normal life. He has to become a famous author to prove to her that she made a huge mistake leaving him.

But he would be so much happier getting a job as a junior mechanic at a Ford dealership. It would add structure to his life, give him a sense of accomplishment (as opposed to spending 3 years on the still unfinished tiny Tim novel) and still give him time to write.

Plus, Niki seems fine with living in squalor, so no pressure for him to make a lot of money.

I just made the last payment on my new car and thanks to working from home for the majority of the past 3 years my car has low mileage for what year it is. I’ve thought about the next car I’ll get but I’m in no rush since it runs fine and like I said low mileage. Piggy however is close to 200k miles and can’t afford to even get a decent used car if this mustang bites the dust. He’d have to somehow get a bank loan on another old car with high mileage and that makes me happy.
