I saw Barbie with the gf last weekend and we both walked out like 70% of the way through. I cannot express how great it is having a conservative gf who hated Barbie. That’s what it sounds like from the reviews, just very snarky “durrr the patriarchy” / men are stupid nonsense and like I said, it’s a movie about a kids toy that’s not made for kids. I bet a lot of the ticket sales were mothers taking their young daughters only to have just about all the material go right over their heads. I always like reading how older movies were either adaption a book, inspired by a book, or sometimes multiple movies are made from the same book just went in different directions.

Now everything has to be capeshit or an already established property. When that battleship movie came out and flopped which ruined many studios plans to do board game movies I thought we were done with that shit. But no, it’s 2023 and everything is still for the most part shit.
