I remember when the Ukraine situation started they had all these pieces on the news of “how to explain the situation to your kids” and they meant like teenager which I thought was odd. Then I saw reports of how High Schools were “handling this” (what? There’s always been wars going on in other countries, why is this so important for kids?) and these teachers were pretty much having kids watch CNN in class instead of actually teaching and I thought holy shit were in trouble if that’s what’s going on in schools. High Schools seem to have become just day care for teenagers. I was in high school when 9/11 happened and the schools didn’t do shit about “how do we handle this?” With weeks of classes and even special support groups dealing with it.

But no, Russia / Ukraine was treated as a very serious issue that meant it became all the learner about in certain classes. Because teachers are lazy and used it as an excuse to fuck off and have CNN teach the kids.

I remember my 8th grade teacher was obsessed with the 2000 election and pretty much asked us to see who our parents want to vote for. I told this to my dad and he was pretty annoyed about it and told me to tell her to fuck off, which I didn't do, but should have.

It's not like my dad was some political pundit, but to see him question why my teacher wanted to know that information always stuck to me. That's 24 years ago when it wasn't as divided and crazy as it is now. I can't imagine what bullshit these kids have to hear today from their politically active teacher.

What’s funny I had a similar experience, it was either 96 or 2000 - I’m leaning 2000 since we seem to be about the same age - but I asked my mom who she was voting for because one of my teachers told us to ask and she got all pissed which I didn’t understand since I thought (or was told) that wasn’t a bad thing to ask. She told it was none of my business and people vote behind a curtain for a reason and it wasn’t until years later I understood why she was upset - she knew that was some dumb teacher from school trying to push their politics on kids in hopes to influence their parents.

I really wish I paid attention more to teachers pushing their politics on students when I was in school - back then I thought that’s what they’re supposed to do because it was somehow learning related and didn’t think anything of it. But that was over 20 years ago when schools barely had the internet yet or TVs in every room. Now you know you’ve got these shit teachers that just bitched about Trump to their students for 4 years and they took it as that’s normal for school.

Yeah looking back I remember some teachers being neutral about politics and more encouraging to just having the students at least get involved in reading about what’s going on in politics but I’m sure some pushed their politics but I didn’t notice it. But that over 20 years ago before everything got so divided so I don’t even want to think about how it is now with todays female teachers that can’t even go without having sex with their young male students (funny how those stories barely make the news) and you know there’s plenty of miserable cunts teaching that have been blaming all their problems on Trump since 2016.
