Ever since he got his original twitter account back every comedian is now spammed with nigger videos.

Still think Louis CK is writing the forward for your new book? Ha-Ha Holy Shit!!!

I was going to make a new thread about this. When they were talking about the women’s NCAA “controversy” Shane actually says, “No I’m joking, Cumia only posts one type of video. It happens more than you’d think and if it was the other way around it would be a huge news story” and they move on.

Just picturing everyone together... and along comes loner Anthony by himself, walking up to the table and not even getting his apology out, and being met with an angry "DUDE!" from bill burr. Fucking brutal. So fucking pathetic of Ant... like he's the loner kid in high school trying to make friends with the cool kids.

It's so sad. Pitiful. I thought he had hit rock bottom when the Aint It Fun music video came out, but he's below obscurity now.

Anthony has a real issue with honesty and telling the truth. You can guarantee he was much louder and way more wasted than he claimed to be.

Anthony's racism was always very thinly-veiled with an element of comedy. After the firing one of the first things he did was take part in an interview in a white nationalist podcast. He doubled down on that shit so it's no wonder some cut him off there and then. Some stuck around for a while longer (Norton, Bob Kelly) but then the racist/violent tweets continued on and on to the point it's inexcusable to work in the media and still associate with someone like that. And then he beat Vinny Brand's daughter which further cut him adrift from the NY comedy scene.

Anthony is the furthest thing from a victim.
Yep. He earned his exile. Maybe you’re right and they didn’t all realize at the time that he wasn’t entirely joking.

I didn’t mean to make him out to be a victim, this is his own doing and it is deserved.

Also, in defense of the comics who never said anything at the time, he’s way way worse now. Hell. The difference between 2007 Anthony and 2012 Anthony is amazing when you listen back to old shows. I think I said this in another comment but it’s true. Anthony of 2007 wouldn’t recognize or tolerate the current Anthony.

But I do have a very hard time believing that these comics didn’t know, especially towards the end, that it was no longer a joke.

There was a not insignificant portion of the show’s fan base that were walking away from Opie and Anthony because of his racist rants

It became way too much even for people who had listened to them for more than a decade. It’s not impossible that these guys had never noticed - I just find it so unlikely.

Now guys like Bill Burr weren’t listening to the show when they weren’t in, I get that. They weren’t obsessively listening to hours and hours of Opie and Anthony every week like a lot of the fans. So I’m probably barking up the wrong tree here, I just can’t believe a smart guy like Bill Burr wouldn’t have finally pieced it together that this was real, that Anthony is a legitimate racist even as early as 2010.

And then here’s the other thing, some of them, like Joe DeRosa, did again associate with Anthony at least somewhat even after his firing and after his show on compound became incredibly racist, and then ditched him again later. Did they forget in the middle?

I have no problem with them ditching him for being a racist. I have no problem with them ditching him for being irrelevant. The problem I have is ditching him because he’s irrelevant but pretending it’s because of racism. To be fair, maybe that’s not what’s happening. Maybe they really didn’t understand how racist he was until 2014.
