I've got a PDF of Tragedy & Hope and have been procrastinating on reading it. I was Facebook friends with Dyer on early Facebook, and although it is dated the United Skanks of Amerika is still one of my favorite things he wrote. Dyer does some pretty heady topics, but he has a great sense of humor.
According to Jay, despite its interesting contents, it's a boring-as-fuck read. If you listen to Jay's lectures on it, it'll only take you about 14-16 hours to get through it. Reading T&H would take forever because of how dry and long it is. A guy called Joe Plummer put out Tragedy & Hope 101 which is a more condensed version of it, maybe with his own commentary as well, but I'm not sure.
