Depends. When I was a younger lad, I got charged with reckless driving for going 90 in a 65 on I-59 here in St Tammany Parish. The judge gave me 40 hours of community service and 1 year of probation to get the conviction removed from my record. One of those 5 Saturdays I had to go for 8 hours, was picking up trash on Main Street in Slidell, Louisiana. Boring ass shit. Of course the cop that supervised community service said “if I find a cigarette butt, that’s violation of probation” to make us work harder. Depending on the Parish here in LA it’s not uncommon to see a cop van and a bunch of Riff raff in Orange vests picking up trash on the highway or on main streets. Don’t know about Wisconsin, probably more common in the more Conservative leaning areas, as that’s usually where people get punitive punishments for breaking laws in general.
