I tried to like it but the creator kinda fucked up the pacing. If the crux of your plot is a family being torn apart due to paranoia because there might be supernatural shenanigans afoot, you don't reveal in the first 5 minutes that there is in fact supernatural crap going on. It ruins the mystery and any sense of suspense because you're just counting off the minutes waiting for shit to go bananas. The audience should be in the same mindset as the characters for a story like this to really work effectively.

Imagine The Shining being structured like this. The hotel manager mentions the last overseer and it immediately cuts to the bloodied twins being creepy. You'd be bored out of your mind for the first hour or so until shit ramps up. Sometimes less is more.

Back to Mad Max - I’ll never doubt Miller. Even his flops contain something interesting for me.

However he needs to quit fucking with Fury Road. Everything he’s done to fill in backstory or expand it has not only sucked but made the movie itself worse. The comics he released with backstory? I wish I never read them.

I consider Fury Road an almost perfect action movie, he needs to leave it alone. If he had balls he would tell an Old Max story and use Mel, see if he could survive the stunts.

The clip was them taking turns punching that boxing arcade machine and comparing scores. Weisz went first. She took her heels off, asked Joshua for advice, and really gave it her all, and got a pathetic 100 something. Freeman went next. A tiny man.
