"My agent is intrigued" vs "My agent thinks it's a great idea". I think he meant it as a brag, but it's clear his agent is skeptical about the idea.

If his agent actually did like the idea, he would need to go to a hospital immediately for an emergency CAT scan because it is the stupidest idea I've ever heard. It's such a bad idea and I am so happy he's following through with it. He's going to waste like three years writing this thing and no publisher is going to touch it. It's a Creative Writing 101 prompt, and a bad one at that.

A fat, dumb, lazy idiot with no research skills and no degrees of any kind is writing a satirical historical fiction novel that is also a derivative sequel of a public domain literary classic. What's not to love except literally everything about it?

He's biting this concept and has no where near the talent to pull it off.

The review gets it wrong. It's a "former" prostitute although the distinction is meaningless. And "protect his virginity" is referring to the ever present threat of buggery throughout much of the book. It is a good read.

Agents don't give a fuck, they want a finished piece to shop around and get their 10%.
Its the publisher who needs to be intrigued. So far they don't appear to be.

His agent got paid on the AR and TOR contracts. Pat hasn't written anything since, doesn't cost anything to keep piggy on the books and he may actually con another publisher into a three book deal.

If I were him I'd sidle up to some publishing guys dumb wife on twitter. Tell her my sob story. But that would require investigation, thought, etc.

I don’t see how that’s remotely possible once they look at his Bookscan numbers and — crucially — the fact that he hasn’t delivered a manuscript for several years. As long as a publisher knows you can produce, you’re more than halfway to getting a contract. They give a lot of advances to would-be authors who can’t knuckle down and get shit done. You know, like Pat’s recent years.

No publisher will touch him with a barge pole in light of the mess he’s created. And that’s before you figure in his utterly repulsive personality and toxic, low-engagement tweets focused exclusively on political bullshit, boring DIY and fat selfies.

My agent is intrigued = My agent is shocked that I would think of writing such garbage but is too afraid to say it’s shit, and is hoping I don’t finish this.
I guarantee that the most his agent had to say about it was “LMK when you have an outline and sample chapters.” That was three years ago. Pat is a distant memory to both agents and publishers.
