I haven't watched the series, but I listened to this video from WSI and it's all I need to know about it.

I laughed when James Romero highlighting Jim Cornette acting like a crybaby over Phil Mushnick. Fuck Cornette.

If you're familiar with WWF/WWE history, The Monday Night Wars and read the allegations against him, this whole mini-series is a giant waste of time.
Yeah that’s what I feel - it’s nothing really new or groundbreaking if you’re not aware of the history. I do like that’s it’s focused on the business at least, but it’s more for someone that is unaware of the history of WWF / WWE.

I heard this was a must-watch, double shovel burial of Vince.

It's the same Wrestling documentary from 20 years ago with the new allegations tacked on at the end. Fuckin' sucks.

Really the only takeaway I got was a Kendall Roy-esque sense of pity for Shane McMahon. Dude spent his entire life trying to impress daddy with all those crazy bumps but of course Vince refused to buy UFC for pennies on the dollar.

He comes back after so many years away from the company to do a HITC match against Undertaker at WM and does the Mankind bump off the top of the cell. Not the pussy ass Seth Rollins "climb the cell halfway and jump off" bump, the full Foley.

Now Shiv and Tom... I mean Steph and Hunter basically have full control of the company now.

Yeah they hyped it like was going to be something and it’s nothing. Not even why McMahon was living in a trailer with his mom and his dad wasn’t around until he was 14 and what went on in those early years. I bet Vince was the one who was behind the story that he tried to buy it back from Netflix.

Hitman Hart: Wrestling with Shadows
That was much more real than this one, also where they got the majority of the footage used for this when talking about the screw job. Only difference is now Bret admits he was cheating on his then wife with Sunny. Was this the first time on camera he actually admitted it? I know it was always talked about and denied at the time. Same with Hogan telling Vince that Jesse wanted to start a Union.

The UFC would have flopped under McMahon, maybe just not as bad as the XFL did.

So so so so Bret had "sunny days"? When did he admit to that?

XFL flopped because all the good players were in the NFL and nobody wants to watch shitty football with a bunch of unknowns.

UFC is the top destination for MMA fighters whose competition was what? Bellator?

Yeah, probably, same way top talent from thew WWF went to WCW. Then MMA has the same problem as modern boxing, where you don't know who is the best because there are too many orgs with their own titles.

I think the only interesting part was Vince talking about the Owen Hart incident which I thought he had avoided commenting on for years. Of course he said Owen would have wanted him to continue and have the wrestlers in a ring that had a dead man’s blood on it. His logic was something like “nobody really saw it so we went on with the show like nothing happened” )they didn’t yell the live audience, just the PPV audience) but if the lights were on and he fell they would have stopped. I’m glad they put in the footage of the matches after it and you see his blood on the side of the ring.

I never watched Over the Edge, never got to order PPVs as a kid and didn't ever feel the need to watch it knowing what happened with Owen.

Seeing that blood stain in the ring as wrestlers were fighting around it doing turnbuckle spots, knowing it belongs to Owen and he's dead - holy shit that was jarring. Especially for Jarrett who basically had to do a comedy tag match with Val Venis and play the goofy heel role.

Funny you mention Jarrett, I actually saw him at the airport last Thursday morning with his wife Karen (Kurt angles former wife) - it was one of those weird I was walking towards my gate and he was just standing at the one next to it and he looked right at me. I said hello and he was nice and all and sat at the gate next to mine. I was caught off guard talking to him so I ran out of things to say after saying “Jeff Jarrett!” so I told him to have a good flight.

I once was on a flight with D’Lo Brown and didn’t know it until I was standing next to him at baggage claim. That’s the end of my wrestlers in airports stories.
