Nobody should’ve been surprised this movie was shit when the director hasn’t made a classic movie in 25 years and only gets worse with age and is a questionable pedophile (though I agree with the other brotherman who said Silence was good).

Hot take but Paul Schrader, who I won’t say isn’t a creep either, is a much better filmmaker than Scorsese and has at least made original/memorable movies in both his early years and in his octogenarian years.

Scorsese simply got lost after the Weinstein/DiCRAPio deal happened and hasn’t been hilarious since except unintentionally. I was so angry when he ruined Gangs of New York with his shitty casting of DiSHITio. If he had any creative integrity he would’ve told Miramax upper management to go GO SCREW and gone off and made degenerate independent movies like that David Lynch fella.

Fun fact, I started watching JFK a couple of days ago thinking I was re-watching Thirteen Days, probably because of Kevin Costner. Ended up liking it a lot and then re-watched Thirteen Days too youknowmean.

I like Stephen Graham and even Pesci was ok I guess. DeNiro was the worst. I agree with what the others said. You can de-age the face but not the movements. The fight, the guns, whatever. He moved like an 80 year old.

I watched this one recently and it really is fucking terrible. Mostly because the writing just sucks. De Niro even admitted he only took the role because he wanted to work with Pacino again.

I'm kinda surprised by how much people here hate it. It's not great, but I didn't think it was that bad. Overlong and yeah the store fight is awful, but I still thought it was a well made crime drama and the deaging didn't bother me at all. I thought Pesci and Al Pacino were great, De Niro wasn't bad but not good either. Is it as good as Goodfellas or Casino? Hell no, but the way people on here talk about it you'd think it was on the same level as something like Dirty Grandpa.

I remember reading that Paul shader got naked on set when he was directing Lindsay Lohan in the canyons to "make her more comfortable" for a nude scene she wasn't going to do. That was a shambles. With the director and producer they had Plus her (she had actual talent) it should have revived her career. Instead Lohan torpedoed her career and the movie being difficult.

Totally agree on gangs. The most fucking overrated movie he's done. DiCaprio was miscast as a tough guy and looked ridiculous it was too long and the ending was anticlimactic shit. DiCaprio was good in wolf of wall street the way Tom cruise was in color of money; they basically just played unlikeable jerk offs (ie themselves)
