Even if you retire in good financial health from a life of hard work and careful spending, some retard will be blaming you for their situation. Plus, you have to pay property taxes and basically rent your own property.

My tax bill for the last two years was more than all the money I earned in my twenties

It's kinda surreal to realize that I could have basically taken every single day off, from the age of 20 until 30, and my financial situation today wouldn't be a whole lot different. When I was 21 I had two jobs and I made a whopping $34 a day at one of them. Not "an hour", a day.

I borrowed millions of dollars and told everyone to do the same

Have now found that houses aren't as easy to sell in 2024 as they were in 2021

About once a week I drive by my properties to make sure nobody is squatting in them
I can never tell if you’re actually the Cumtown guy or if you’re just goofing around.

Plan is to have things like my house paid off and enough stocks that the dividends pay my bills and keep putting money in my 401k while working. Will it work? Who knows!

My uncle was smart - he went to the military for a couple years (no combat) and once he was out got some government job like parks and recreation or something and retired with a nice government pension as well as investments over the years.

Start following Dave Ramsey's 7 steps on youtube. Stop reading the news that's outside the county you live in. Everything will be ok.

Dave Ramsey is for welfare queens who are wise enough to realize they aren't killing it the way they think they do. It's really training wheels with limited application.

The Money Guys is a way better podcast that isn't finger waving about "kids these days" and is more geared towards people who aren't in trouble financially, but could use pointers on how to best build wealth for the future. The best thing about them is they acknowledge that wealth management is situation-dependent, give an overview of applicable situations, and leave it up to the individual without being as cunty as Ramsey.

I’ll have to check them out - Ramsey just comes off like a typical boomer, too much “these damn kids and their Starbucks coffee and avocado toast!”
