What demographic listens to "Jim and Sam?"

Literally every single thing Opie said on air about the show and his interactions with management was complete fabricated bullshit.
The :brothaman_sm: said this recently during one of his wildly-popular FB live chats or whatever they are. Basically echoing the shit everyone here always says -- management was looking for a way to get rid of them and the racist rant and shit photography were convenient excuses.

He said the numbahs were slipping. It seems like an odd thing for him to make up.

Sirius / XM has no way to determine ratings.

I've been saying this for almost ten years now.

They don't have the faintest clue how many people are listening.

You can make some guesstimates about how popular a show is, based on how many hits they get on YT. Based on this metric, nearly nobody is listening. XM could seriously broadcast white noise to help people to go to sleep, and they'd have more listeners.
I assume most of their business is contracts with restaurants / grocery stores / etc that need background noise and through all the auto brands since pretty much every car is built with Sirius. I have it but I have the basic, I’m not paying extra for Stern and I can’t see many people doing so unless you’re a big fan. Truckers / Transportation of course makes sense since you don’t lose signal (unless a tunnel)

The subscriber count is also shady since I’m sure it’s large because it’s in every new car for the past couple years and not “active” paying subscribers. Kind of like twitter’s user number which Elon couldn’t even get an accurate number on.

I listen to them periodically when they're on in the morning on my way to work on the off chance Blobby, Vosh, or someone else entertaining might be on, but it's really only if I listened to The Bonfire on my way home the night before since the radio would still be on Faction when I get in the car in the morning. It's just boring background noise. Jimmy went on a rant about Bluetooth the other day which was unnecessary. They might as well Jocktober themselves at this point.

Sirius is for sure doing something sketchy. I was able to get some kind of all-access promo for a year last year for like $12 a month (it's usually something like $26-$30 after taxes and fees), and when I tried to cancel last month, the rep asked why I was canceling, and I told him I didn't like the commercials on the premium channels and that there was too much talking from the "DJ's" on most of the music channels, so he offered to give me a new all-access promo for another year for $8 a month. I'm assuming they know they aren't going to do well with just subscriber money alone, so they want to have lots of subscribers on paper to show to investors and are probably omitting how many of those subscribers are on a free trial or a deeply discounted promo. I don't think I've paid the actual amount for a subscription since 2012-2013, I just check r/siriusxm every once in a while for someone to post a new promo. This is the first time someone in retentions actually gave me a cheaper price for the same promo for another year though.
I get specials all the time. I’m paying $6 a month right now. I have the full package. I keep track of when the expiration on it is and call to cancel when it is coming up, they always lower the price immediately. I think they figure they have enough rubes paying the inflated price and a ton of discounted subs that it all works out. I can get it even cheaper if I cancel it outright and wait about a month for them to send me a renewal offer but I’m good at $6 to keep it going.

It must be a small audience but Sirius needs some kind of “talk” show to fill time. For example Jim Norton is playing venues nowhere near the size he used to when he was on OnA, he’s playing Rich Vos size venues. In an era where they hand out comedy specials to anyone when was the last Norton one? I guess they might get some WWE fans to listen because of Sam but Norton? Seems far-fetched
When was the last time Jim had a televised comedy special? Seriously, I cannot remember.

6 years on a major carrier and they barely passed 150k subs this year. Speaking for Funny gets more views and he's a fat retard.

One of the producers on The Bonfire is in a relationship with a woman that listens to Jim & Sam and Bennintgton daily, but she doesn't listen to The Bonfire. Which is insanity as it's so much better than those shows.

I think Lou’s girl might be fucking with his head. Bonfire absolutely has to be their most popular show behind Stern.

When they asked why you were canceling you should’ve told them “Umm I can’t remember….oh yeah: JIM AND SAM!” :stnorm_sm:

But seriously I think a lot us here would’ve jumped at that chance. What you don’t think the rep would’ve taken your complaint up the ladder? yeheh:image_4848:

Sniff. I think we get too isolated in this bubble of hating O&A that we forget how many O&A fans are still around who don’t hate O&A / didn’t follow the drama any deeper than when they broke up. It’s insane to think about, but there are people who listen to one of the three shows because they’re actually fans of these faggots. They never stopped listening so they don’t even understand the deevolution content wise from O&A > O&J > J&S. Or from O&A to Compound and etc.

I will say this, the fact Jim and Sam still exists, and has existed for years, means that O&A could have kept a plush corporate gig basically until Sirius goes under (albeit for a paycut)

So, realistically, they would have gone until when? At some point in this decade? I find it hard to believe that there would be enough boomer truckers to subscribing in 2029 to justify paying millions to Howard and other "big names" like O&A, Kevin Hart, Andy Cohen, Conan, etc.

Regular radio is really really bad. Jim and Sam are bad. But at least they can mostly say what they want to say and they aren’t doing Monday songs and they aren’t doing war of the roses, so I don’t think it’s all that unusual that they would have an audience.

I really wanted to like the show because I wanted a replacement for Opie and Anthony, even if it wasn’t as good. I really can’t listen to it. But even I will admit there is the occasional clip from the show that’s kind of funny. I don’t think it’s a mystery why they have somewhat of an audience. How big is it? I don’t know.
