I grew up in Chelsea and was forced to learn about him and how Edison was a thief.

Chelsea is my least favorite part of the city.
I remember one morning commuting in to Cambridge from the north when the tunnels were closed and I was just following the GPS and suddenly I looked around and realized I was stuck in gridlock under the Tobin Bridge instead of on it, and I cannot describe the sense of doomed horror that washed over me.

Almost every time I'm in a big city I'll do something like that. Then I just have to sit there in traffic alternately smoking cigarettes and rolling the window up to freak out at the top of my lungs while everyone can obviously see and hear me anyways.

I did a speech on Alexander Graham Bell in public school once and I'm pretty sure it all came down to him also being a thief and an all around unpleasant guy. I think his mother or his wife was also deaf.

Alexander Graham Bell owned a house near where I'm from in what was at the time a popular river resort town. The house is still there, the town was kind of a dump when i was growing up but it's bouncing back now. My grandma always told me it was nice in the old days "before niggers moved there", and she was right!

Fucking abe making me read. I looked it up, no he didn’t invent the lightbulb - it was invented simultaneously by numerous people across the period over a 30 year period with a great deal of experimentation into different methods.

What he did invent was THE ENTIRE FUCKING SYSTEM of generating the electricity, delivering on a network, running it in a house and outlets to allow light globes to be plugged in. Oh and the first actually viable lightbulb for commercial use.

He deserves more credit than he gets even.
