That 'weird shit with Anthony' is the key to understanding Jim's behavior. YimYim was reading the message boards, twitter and reddit, and was perfectly aware that the most rabid listeners were were Cumia-fanboys who disliked Opie. Jim was always scared of these fans and how they could destroy someone's reputation online.

When Ant got fired and the larger online fanbase really started attacking the Opster, Jim was absolutely terrified they would turn on him too. The best way to avoid that was to always side with Anthony and take little shots at Opie to let the reddit/twitter crowd know he was on their side. Hence, when Cumia did the whole 'greggshells' thing, the next day Jim just sat there silently and only piped up to agree with Ant. Opie was right, he really needed Jim that day. It was a total betrayal.

Jim also said that. He did a famous rant on the show about how much of a shit host Anthony was. When Norton visited Anthony's house once for a party there was no one there but Anthony and Danny. Anthony was asleep on the couch when Norton showed up and wasn't answering his phone so Jim just walked into his house. Antony only had leftover Halloween candy to eat as well.

Norton said that Anthony gave him a tour of the house and pointed out all of the things that would be used at a real party when Norton was not there. "See that....that's the popcorn machine....but it won't make popcorn today when you're here". "Yeah....that's the karaoke machine....but it's off now". "Here's all the fun stuff you can't enjoy Norton".

But the only real parties Anthony ever threw were the ones that Jill Nicolini organized. She invited waiters and a professional chef. A bartender. And a DJ and some other entertainment. Plus she invited more than just Anthony's pedophile loner friends and had people from outside of Anthony's circle show up. All of his other parties were the ones with Bobo and Anthony's creepy friends where it was a sausage fest of drunken trash losers imbibing themselves slowly to death. The king where a comedian or show producer would attend once then realize that they did not belong amongst that kind of crowd.

Jim raped a passed out drunk teenager at work. Anthony is a pedophile racist who has exploited vulnerable under age fans countless times. He’s travelled the country to have “legal” sex with 16 year olds and openly bragged about fingering 14 year olds.

Opie can be unfunny but he kept the show moving and tried to keep it fresh. He’s a committed father and husband.
