I went to Ecuador recently and got a foot infection from a dirty hot tub. On the way back it was storming in Miami so our flight got delayed like five times and the gate would change every time. For those of you not familiar with Miami, it takes ~15 minutes to walk from one side of a terminal to the other, so I’m just limping pathetically across the airport back and forth with an engorged foot for 12+ hours. Ended up taking an extra week off from work

Gave the Timberlake look-alike my license and birth certificate, he asked why I was there, and if I had anything I’m bringing back. I told him there’s a beer in my backpack, he asked if there was anything else, I said jumping beans, he laughed and waved me through. Getting into Mexico was actually sillier. I told my buddies, who all had passports or global entrys I didn’t want to slow them down, yet going in a guy’s going down the line asking for passaporta and giving out papers to fill out, I show him my license/certificate and he says no he needs a passport, I tell him I don’t have one and he just says “andele” and waved me to go forward. I took a pic of all my buddies filling out a paperwork that I didn’t have to and gave them shit for slowing ME down.

My buddy's parents spend a shitload of time in Mexico and love it. I'm pretty sure they'd prefer to live there. They don't do the resort thing either. They actually have a bunch of beaner friends they've made and stuff too. They also speak zero Spanish.

Even though I’d never been I always figured I’d buy some beach front property there for cheap. This visit confirmed my figurings.
