Completely absent any of our evidence, the cops have a duty to treat all emergency calls as legitimate. Even the most "damning" part of their suit, where the cop says he is "fully aware" that he is being swatted, he is still perfectly within his legal right to search the Robinson-Tomlinson household when a call is made claiming that Pat has just murdered his wife.

Exactly, they are doing their job because if they didn’t take a call seriously and blew it off and something did happen they would be in trouble. They are suing the MPD because they didn’t create and implement a new special procedure related to them and how police departments all over the country need to start making procedures related to “swatting”

The MPD know something is off with this whole thing - they better fight this and I really hope this leads to police keeping an eye on him and he finally gets a DUI leaving a bar.

I'm going to go with 2A. The city decides to settle for like $50,000-75,000 (wild guess). This would be a great deal for Pat. But Pat is stubborn and stupid and refuses to accept the settlement. So it goes to trial and Pat loses, getting no money but owing his new attorneys money.

At least, that's my on-the-record prediction. Reading the whole document, it's pretty obvious that no serious attorney gave Pat and Niki the time of day on this ridiculous case, so they had to settle for an attorney stupid enough to actually put his name at the end of this foolish lawsuit. Anyone competent would be embarrassed to write their client is a victim of domestic terrorism at the hands of online "bullies" while providing literally zero evidence to support that claim.

• Settlement is sadly a likely end to this. I think Pat will accept anything over what he would consider an insulting amount, quite low as he is poor, because he wants bragging rights
• Lawyers may be working on contingency
• Milwaukee PD will probably fold the suit against the cop up into their larger case. The union will get him representation if MPD leaves him hanging out to dry (unlikely).
