People here are dramatically overestimating the competence of the city, judiciary, and police force, and underestimating how willing city politicians are to freely throwing away mammoth sums of tax money willy-nilly on retarded shit where you may as well burn the bills. They are not paying. The taxpayer is. Why risk the political blowback of a loud flashy costly trial to thoroughly debunk a nigger's claims and win when you can just give them a couple million to make it all go away? Even when cities know they'd win in a trial, they often just burn millions instead as, well, it's easier. Plus these trials are costly and they know they'd never recoup a dime of attorneys fees from deadbeat niggers/FFWBTs. Attorneys like Ben Crump make their entire living on this fact.
So far the MPD's defence has essentially been "no, child!" and "qualified immunity", not directly combatting and disproving the worst of Rick's accusations. I hate to say it, but the MPD's lawyers are both fucking shit. Maria Mesoloras was a public defender her entire career until late 2023; William Hotchkiss, the young Assistant City Attorney, likewise has very little experience and has lost several similar cases where the city has ended up paying large settlements. Both likely have massive caseloads and are overworked due to the long-term understaffing situation, so they really don't have the ability, time, or care to dedicate any significant effort to this case. They're just following through the motions thus far.
TLDR: All city officials/local politicians nationwide should be fed into a woodchipper and used as mulch.

This.If Pat gets a single penny in any settlement it will be a tremendous fail from the MPD's lawyers. In all their legal briefings I think they only mentioned once that Rick was drunk & belligerent at the time of the arrests. They've never mentioned his criminal history and the fact he's been arrested for threatening to kill Ade, Jon, and Annabelle.
Pat's always going to stretch the truth and present himself as the most innocent of victims, and the MPD should be laser-focused on countering that claim. On how Patrick would threaten the cops with lawsuits and lunge violently towards them. How they couldn't restrain Piggy and put him in handcuffs because he wouldn't let them.
I understand IANAL but taking Pat at his "innocent victim" word and just citing prior case law just reeks of some stubborn elderly lawyer who thinks this is the only way to win a case. Let Pat paint whatever story he wants, and then respond with let me cite Murple v. Jelinkski and Davis v. Jacksonville from 1982!
