There's not really a loss for us there.
If he wins, he pays off legal debts from before, pays off his current lawyers, pays off his media tour publicist and has a bit leftover to maybe go to Pearl Harbor again to get some more apologies. Nobody here paid a thing. He bilked the taxpayers.
Maybe even has a few bucks to do something stupid or reckless we can mock.
I can't imagine after all these billable hours for years now that he will come out super far ahead. He will have completely alienated his local law enforcement who will definitely NOT be sending anyone to prison, stlaker unless it's Pat himself. He will have invited an astronomical amount of scrutiny.
He will still have no publishing career. He will still have no comedy career. No daughter. He will be just as devoid of friends and unburned bridges as before. He will have spent years and thousands to get a small payoff and spent those years putting incredible strain his family and marriage. And his reputation is destroyed.
This isn't the lawyer who sued Norton and could afford to do so because he filed all his own stuff for free.
You could say it's a bummer that he can gloat about beating the system or whatever but he does that anyway so it's a wash. He's a laughing stock known internationally as the crazy prison stlaker guy. He gains nothing by getting a settlement on a nusiance lawsuit aside from maybe having a few maloonigans left over to pay to get Thick Nik's teeth whitened.

If anything, Norm11 exploded because we got him at his peak. He was able to call himself a legit sci-fi writer for a short while. He just had got that damn blue check at the height of twittermania. Have you read some of the old interviews found by Caverlock? He freaking sounds at the edge of being discovered. Im not saying he was about to become a Hollywood celebrity, but he was a couple of viral tweets away to become part of that twitter cabal who have become professional shills and have made a successful living out of twitter (Aids Clapton and BrooklynDad have been on the Democrats' payroll for years now). The magic of patposting is that he threw all of that future away to fight with irrelevant trolls.
Rick needs a few wins so the ensuing fall is funnier. Krusty said it better: The pie gag is only funny when the sap's got dignity. Thats why old Rick threatening to shut down the subreddits/forums and fighting with Boomia is funnier than this zombie-defeated Rick that can only resort to the fearpasta. Sure, witnessing the downfall has been delightful, but we are reaching the limits of how much humiliated a person can be on the internet
Thats why Rick winning a settlement is not a loss for us. First of all he didn't got it from an innocent party (fuck the cops) but most importantly, you can guarantee he's going to do something very, very stupid with the money which will be funny. The best outcome is he thinking he turned a corner with his first legal win after 5 years of losing and double down and gunning for Dan Mullen or Leslie.
That being said, by favourite outcome would be this going all the way to a jury. How can you not root for that.

Any settlement will be offered with a “don’t discuss this or say we are guilty of anything” clause. Pat would end up breaking it within a day replying to people on social media. Not sure why people think they are settling. The city is given a chance to make a settlement offer with an external party looking at the facts and giving an interim report on what they think a reasonable offer should be. It’s basically settle or go to trial at this point.

If Pat gets a single penny in any settlement it will be a tremendous fail from the MPD's lawyers. In all their legal briefings I think they only mentioned once that Rick was drunk & belligerent at the time of the arrests. They've never mentioned his criminal history and the fact he's been arrested for threatening to kill Ade, Jon, and Annabelle.
Pat's always going to stretch the truth and present himself as the most innocent of victims, and the MPD should be laser-focused on countering that claim. On how Patrick would threaten the cops with lawsuits and lunge violently towards them. How they couldn't restrain Piggy and put him in handcuffs because he wouldn't let them.
I understand IANAL but taking Pat at his "innocent victim" word and just citing prior case law just reeks of some stubborn elderly lawyer who thinks this is the only way to win a case.
