Shitposting aside, I can see how Howie would have been seen as the popular "fringe iconoclast broadcaster". I wasn't old enough to be around to hear him at his prime, but watching his old E! videos on Youtube and I can see why people took to him. The brash entertainer that was unlike anything else heard anywhere in the 90s.
