Melodramatic one sentence-paragraph opener. Hack. The first full paragraph is absurdly wordy and unnecessarily complex. If he's going for a Dickens vibe, he is failing.

Then you slide into a very confusing paragraph starting with "Marley among them" when it's hard to parse who "them" is. He follows up that fragment of a sentence with a whopper of a run-on sentence that says pretty much nothing because of how much he's cramming into it. Instead, how about "In death, the chains that encumbered poor Jacob were equal in weight to that of the pounds sterling he ruthlessly pursued in life". It's still a garbage thought that didn't need to be said but at least it's breezier to read. This book is a fucken pile of shit.

It shouldn’t even be a book in the first place. It’s perhaps a short story, nothing more. The fact that he tweeted the commencement of his writing in 2019 and still can’t manage to scrape together a rough draft says it all.

But Pat is functionally retarded and keeps repeating his #DLTIW mantra. Meanwhile, he hasn’t published anything in years, has to tweet at publishers to try to get noticed, and has a public record of his immense debt. Pat is now aspiring to be penniless, which is one station up from his current status as a NEET with crippling, humiliating debt. This is what passes for “winning” in Pat’s pea brain.

I’m sure that’s how he likes to think of it. Meanwhile, Leslie is running the literary agency she co-owns, enjoying close professional relationships with editors Pat would kill to meet. And Pat? He’s still tweeting 170 times a day on average, not published, not earning an income, not a healthy weight, not solvent.

It really is astonishing that Twitter means more to him than anything else. And what has he got to show for it? A debt amortization plan that he’s praying will be accepted by the court so he can move on to begging his mother-in-law to make the $1700/month payments. Not to mention a whopping $55,000 in debt to the owner of this website.

I guess I’d be sinking Miller Lites every waking hour if I were in his shoes, too. Dying an alcoholic death is the most dignified option he has left at this point.
