If your knowledge of Genesis is strictly anything with Phil Collins singing, you haven’t experienced how good Genesis is / was.

All in with the Peter Gabes (and obviously Ray Wilson), again I've only heard his solo stuff though, not enough of Genesis. Your list is fucked btw, Van Halen, The Who, The Kinks? Suck a fat one. Pearl Jam are good too

The only disagree on that list for me is The Who, and really they only had like 3 great albums.

ACDC is fun but yes they suck ass. Every other band on this list completely blows, they're basically 1-2 hit wonders

Genuinely overrated bands though? My first thought is shit like Genesis or Boston but I've never properly listened to them.

I think Simon and garfunkel never got their due, they are never regarded among beatles or zed zeppelin, but i think paul simon was a songwriting genius back then.

There are many other artists i am forgetting (not bands though) that never got their due like, Jackson Browne, Suzanne Vega etc.

Nah I think enough of their fans aged out and new ones didn't replace them. Michael Jackson is still liked and we all know about him

To be fair KISS doesn’t even think their songs are that great - they’ve said many times it’s just simple rock songs “meat and potato” description. At least they don’t think they have profound and deep meaningful songs like many others listed there. Same with AC/DC - they’ve admitted they made same album over and over. Lotta fawkin groups on that list that take themselves way too seriously.

Rush can fuck off. I fucking hate Rush so much. Neil Pert is a dumb flamboyant faggot and Geddy Lee is a queer. They sucked so much as a prog band they had to revert to doing shitty classic rock music. “Tom Sawyer mean, mean guy!” Yeah? Is he?

Vurry telling that Rushheads will point to 2112 as evidence they’re amazing when it is one of the worst prog albums ever made.

I grew up in the northeast and liked some of Tom Petty’s songs but wasn’t that crazy about him. You go down to FL and he’s like a god there. Don Felder of the Eagles was his guitar teacher - he’s the member of the Eagles that called out Henley and Frey for being greedy pompous assholes and they been suing each other for years. So you gotta like that.

I’ve noticed that too about the Who - I know a lot of people like them but I never liked them that much and didn’t see them on the same level as Beatles / Stones. I wonder if they’ve dropped from that ranking since they won’t go away and pretty much tour every year. At least the stones would go away for periods of time.

I’ve always felt Zeppelin was overrated and Jimmy Page is a sloppy guitarist. I think Deep Purple was better even though I hate smoke on the water.
