I am deeply concerned about recent actions by the SFWA that undermine both the principles of fair practice and the values of diversity and inclusion your organization claims to uphold.

First, the award of $200,000 to you-know-who, an individual with no significant contributions to the broader writing community, appears not only unjustifiable but potentially unlawful, violating charity laws by disproportionately benefiting a single individual. The opacity surrounding this decision, which has been withheld from your paying members and donors, suggests a troubling lack of accountability.

Second, the treatment of Director-at-Large Donald Ekpeki is appalling. By dismissing a democratically elected leader, SFWA displays a troubling tendency toward systemic racism, sidelining the very voices you should be amplifying.

SFWA has a responsibility to maintain transparent, equitable practices. Please address these issues without delay to restore trust in an organization that should serve all its members.
