Lucy was (and still is) the cure.

Does that YouTube channel have my main man Rutger Hauer as their profile picture? Megadeth and Hauer, now that's based.

I dunno but this nigga got all the Megadeth albums in their original production, not the 2004 remastered shit. Peace Sells + alcohol finna put ya boy in a trance, bass and snare drums are so loud, it's great.

Thanks brotherman, i will check that channel out, the remasters are a pile of shit, i don't how they thought that shit sounded any better than the originals.

If I remember, Mustaine at the time was in a lawsuit against Ellefson, so he brought up the guitars and vocals in the mix while lowering the snare drum and bass.

In high school I bought the 2004 remasters because that's what was available on CD in stores. Years later, I heard the original mixes and was blown away. Peace Sells IMO is actually better than Rust in Peace for this reason; I've never heard four rock musicians working together sounding as well as they did. Apparently Youthanasia was played in studio together at the same time, that's why it sounds so nice.

Countdown is their biggest flop to me. Half the songs I like, half do nothing for me.

Mustaine is great, but he's reeeeeeaally fucking petty. Him, Ulrich and Hetfield are really cut from the same cloth in that regard.
Maybe we wouldn't have Megadeth's great music without his pettinnes, he really had something to prove when he was kicked out of Metallica, who thought he would create music that blows anything Metallica has ever done out of the water.

Rust in Peace is still my favourite, the band where truly a well oiled machine at that point, firing on all cylinders.

Oh yeah, I wouldn't take Dave any other way. Guy's probably a prick, but he's no dummy.

I'll put Peace Sells and RIP as my 1a and 1b of their material, probably with Youthanasia as #2. I love RIP because it's so insane, but Peace Sells just has this... I dunno. He said he was doing black magic shit at the time, and I think it shows. The Conjuring and Black Friday in particular just have some evil sounding parts, it's just got a grunt that RIP doesn't have. Tornado of Souls has their best solo, but overall Chris Poland was better than Friedman IMO.

Music really works on a mood basis to me, i prefer different styles during different moods, when i'm in a foul mood i would listen to Peace Sells.

RIP is obviously better produced, but it lost some of that rawness in the process.

Dave spitting out his words through gritted teeth is one of the things i love about them, he has a real pissed off agression to his delivery.

Just a great album. Megadeth’s first 4 albums in the original mastering destroy Metallica’s first 4. Somewhere I have the Megadeth comic book miniseries. It was really good. I am a big Megadeth fan, I was a tape trader 10 years ago and I have a decent collection of DVDs of Megadeth shows from high quality sources. One show with Kerry King on guitar and a few from Rust in Peace tour stand out in my memory.

That's really interesting, and something i know absolutely nothing about, how did tape trading work?

I assume this was around the time that the internet wasn't a prevalent as it is now, how did you meet people to trade tapes with, at conventions or something?

Didn't you also trade wrestling tapes back in the day, i remember you mentioning that.

I did it on bootleg trading sites, mostly torrents, but did it physically with people I met on trading forums through the mail. Dimeadozen is a good one that’s still around. I started off and on around 1999 to 2012. Made friends with people who were doing the trading for the super rare stuff who were transferring master or 1st generation sources to digital. Those guys would take those hoarded tapes and release them for everyone, but I was able to get it months prior to everyone else. Lots of once incredibly rare hardcore and punk. I’m fairly certain that Black Flag fans recorded every single show because new lost shows pop up every year.
