The economy is shit because of republican policies. There are millions of people on welfare because republicans are against raising the minimum wage and improving the pay/conditions of workers in this country so that they don't have to rely on government assistance to have a roof over their heads and feed their families.

TLDR is that many of the things made overseas will take years if not decades to start producing domestically (ESPECIALLY semiconductors & ICs). And it may still be cheaper to not reshore those industries. In the mean time the astronomical tariffs are effectively a 100% federal sales tax during a cost of living crisis. If he was honest about it being an exorbitant sales tax we would all be rioting in the streets but since he dressed it up as "duuuhhhhh chyna" magapedes think it's the best thing since sliced bread.

The correct way to go about this is like Biden has been doing with the CHIPS act. Bring the capabilities back here, then you can trot out the tariffs. Cart, horse, ect.
